paj: Linkster: Who is Bill Murry supposed to be, an English Gentleman from the 1820's?

Hungarian, I think. Link

Ah, Thank you, good sir/madam.

cameroncrazy1984: eddievercetti: Is Girls good?

Girls is a pretty good show. I watched all of season one in a couple days.

I actually watched it over the holidays on HBOGo and liked it a lot more than I thought I would. I think the trick to enjoying it is remembering that I was kind of a pretentious douchebag right out of college as well, and it took a little humbling by life to impart some actual wisdom on me. Yeah, the characters, especially the males ones, can be annoyingly hipsterish, but I think that is pretty much par for the course in Brooklyn these days. You can't swing a cat without knocking a PBR out of some pretentious dude's hands, so it is a realistic depiction of life in the city. They also make it very clear early on that the only reason that most of the characters are not homeless is because they have parents and trust funds subsidizing their crappy jobs.

ariseatex: Currently re-assuring my gay Texan friends that their local affiliates did not purposely bleep out Jodie Foster's coming out...just the wolf-whistles.

But....why bleeping out wolf whistles? seriously? it's almost so a construction worker can't look at the street anymore.

The English Major: So, Modern Family just got robbed by the insufferable girls.

Oh please, those biatches win every year. Enough already.

Stop threatening to air Smash again, NBC. Just stop. We'll send you the ransom money.

cameroncrazy1984: MagSeven: Imagine how awesome spending a night partying with Ewan McGregor, Bill Murray, George Clooney and Azziz Ansari would be.

More fun after Aziz passes out in his own vomit.

Who does the sharpie-wang on his forehead, McGregor Murray or Clooney?

Di Atribe: spiralscratch: Why are Comedy and Musicals lumped together?

And hell, why is Big Bang Theory even nominated? So many better comedies out there.

30 Rock. Community. Parks & Rec. Some other things, I'm sure.

Yes. And Ben & Kate, New Girl, Raising Hope, Louie, Wilfred, Archer, Bob's Burgers, American Dad.

Even faded stars like The Office and The Simpsons is better than that shiat.

MagSeven: StrandedInAZ: Lumbar Puncture: It was a beautiful speech if you had the secret decoder ring. You could see those in the audience who were able to interpret it.

/the decoder ring is cocaine.

But if you're coming out, why would you do it in such a convoluted speech? I think NBC may have censored a part of it, but I'm not sure. My audio cut out at one point.

I had audio all through it. I thought her being a lesbian was common knowledge. I could have even sworn she had a national coming out. Eh. Who cares?

People shouldn't care. But there are still places where it's really hard to be out (my conservative state included).

Because of famous people who come out, it's easier for those of us who aren't so famous to be out. Maybe someone isn't comfortable with lesbians but they find Ellen's show enjoyable, so they learn we're just like everyone else. I love when stars come out, male and female. I'd rather live in a world where it's not a big deal. but I don't.

It's nice that I'm out at work for the first time ever. There's tremendous stress that comes with not being able to be who you are in a place where you spend 40 hours a week. Do I need my coworkers involved in my personal life? No. But when someone asks what I did last weekend, it's nice to say that my partner and I took the kids to the zoo and not have anyone bat an eyelash.

It's very refreshing, isn't it? I'm so comfortable doing that now in DC/MD that when I go back to AZ or TX I just keep doing it...then just ignoring the raised eyebrows or crumpled-up faces. Figure, you talk about your wife, I talk about my husband. Don't like it, tough, I'm happy bigot, fark you.

Well, that's kind of what she said. Maybe her ex wanted her to come out....all those years of success, and she was never publicly thanked for being Jodie's partner.
