I love this woman more and more.

/not in the creepy stalker way, but the genuine admiration of a total stranger for talent, brains and attractiveness

My toenails are growing a little long. Maybe it's time to trim them down a bit. I just thought it was important for the world to know that.

/And I washed my hands last week, but my fingers still smell like a tuna-fish sandwich. What's up with that?

Video complaining about boring twitter was boring...

I find this funny coming from her as she was head writer on Saturday Night Live, a show that often (during her tenure) was painfully unfunny to watch.

Right.

You should have to get a license to continue to post boring stuff on twitter. Genius.

Twitter as a news feed gives you the world, if you know how to use it.

As an introvert this is how I feel about most things. I don't enjoy small talk, facebook, twitter, or any other mindless babble. Yet here I am on Fark, and babbling nonetheless.

Twitter is a terrible thing for people who think they're in any way interesting, but who are actually boring, vapid drones.

Now, for people who are interesting and have something to offer, it's great.

Unfortunately, 99% percent of people on Twitter fall into the former category.

Yes, but what is the root cause of their boring tweets? Ignorance leavened with a liberal dose of narcissism. Sprinkle with a complete jack of self- awareness and voila! -- nonstop twitterhea.

Before we start licensing for Twitter, can we license the "right" to be a parent first?

Exactly why I don't have a Facebook account. I tell people who ask that I'm not interesting enough. I do have a twitter, but it's only to tie coupons to my Amex card.

Exactly. The Fark Hive Mind think she's the greatest think since sliced bread. They will tell you that her brand of humor is cerebral and you are too stupid to understand her even though she is not even remotely funny.

I kind of feel bad because I held a gun to Tina Fey's head and said I would shoot her if she didn't follow me on Twitter.

You have to go out of your way to get someone's Twitter feed. If someone is boring, unfollow them. Really not that hard of a concept.

2013-01-13 01:11:25 PM
Actually, I have to agree - I find Twitter to be largely useless, a tool to pass around advertising, insults, and pointless platitudes. The vast majority of what I saw on Twitter was insipid.

I heard she was angling for a part in the next Muppet Movie. So if Jason Segel is part of it, I imaging it will be a smoldering pile of smug.

I think the funniest part about this (and people's reactions to it), is that people think she's serious.

One of the things I couldn't stand about her Weekend Update hosting was it was joke, pause to appreciate how clever it is, move on. Humor that needs to be pointed out/explained fails at the basic level of comedy.

I'm sort of getting tired of everybody seeming to think that everything has to be funny all the time. Sometimes people aren't funny. It's ok. They probably have other endearing qualities. Like maybe looking like a sexy soccer mom librarian.

No, Miller is just obscure, not funny. Fey references things you don't need to look up, you just need to actively be living a life to understand her.

Not really. I watch stuff even when I know I'm going to hate it. I give things a chance to surprise me or give myself a leg to stand on if I want to criticize.

She's the Ryan Seacrest of comedy.

That right there is funnier than anything she has ever done. Oh, I like her, that means it is intelligent,

Dennis Miller was the last great Weekend Update Anchor. Everyone after him was either likeable but flawed, tried too hard, smug, or lame. Dennis Miller's segments were worth staying up for. I have no comments pre-Miller; Classic SNL (the 70s) was in another zone all together.

You mean people like Tina Fey?

2013-01-13 09:29:18 PM
There must be something I'm missing here. For the most part the only people that see a person's tweets are people that follow said person. The boring minutia of the lives concerning us everyday non celeb folks might be relevant to people that are following us.

Sally wished Bob a happy birthday via Twitter. I'm friends with Bob and follow both Sally and Bob, but didn't know it was Bob's birthday. Now I do. Thanks, Sally. fark-you Tina Fey.

Is there an Ultra-Twitter where you must read every post that everyone makes? Or is that something that people can't talk about.

Dennis Miller was, honestly, awesome when he was on SNL. And then, like a couple of other SNL regulars, Dennis Miller went nuts. It was a shame to watch, really.

Regulars in the politics tab. They usually don't venture to this one.

Point taken. Never venture to the politics tab. Crazy runs rampant on both side of the aisle, but nowhere so much as there.
