It's sad that this guy thinks he's a tech journalist. It's even more s sad that someone from Fark agreed and linked his crap.

You're blog is bad and you should feel bad.

RexTalionis: Who the hell keeps approving Beatweek articles? This is like the 3rd or 4th one this week.

2nd. Someone needs to do some housecleaning and redlight the mod that keeps greenlighting this crap. I come to fark for news, not overly opinionated blog-esque crap.

I was a diehard iPhone user for a long time.  Then I got Android and never looked back.  Even on ATT, the phone is much more reliable and I rarely get dropped calls.

I have a two year old HTC Thunderbolt, and my wifey has a brand new iPhone 5.

Both thru Verizon.

Guess which one never drops calls, seems to always have more bars even when travelling, gets faster internet downloads, and generally never craps out in the middle of something?

What humored me was "stuck in 2009" sounds like something a 13 year old girl would believe is an insult. Probably about fashion or pop music.

YodaBlues: weave: Meh, I have them both (Verizon on new iPad, AT&T on my iPhone 5) and I find them pretty even.

The one difference that really pissed me off about Verizon on iPad is, they don't allow one to buy international travel on it unless you are also a regular contract customer -- ie, not just buying data on the device.

With my older AT&T iPad if I went overseas I could just pre-buy a bucket of data to use on it.

Don't believe that? Go into a Verizon iPad with cellular and try and buy an international data package.

Reference

Because Verizon uses cdma, which is pretty much US only. the rest of world uses gsm. your Verizon iPad lacks the necessary radio for overseas use.

The Verizon iPad has a GSM/HSPA quad band radio in it that works just fine domestically and internationally. A properly built HSPA network is plenty fast.

For comparison I've been running an AT&T SIM in mine. Verizon's network is far better in my area as far as VZ LTE coverage versus AT&T faux-G.

Still not giving up my unlimited international data so I will be with AT&T as long as they don't take that away.

Oh, and did any one mention this article is written by a troll or moron? Maybe even one in the same.

It must feel horrible to have so much of your identified defined by which phone and which carrier you choose. I imagine this is the kind of person who makes appointments with the Mac store just to go in and talk to the employees for 15 minutes of therapy.

Same. I installed a FF addon (BlockSite) specifically to stop giving any traffic to the Examiner after the non-stop links from there. The rampant douchebaggery in that article got me to add a second website. Congratulations on the trolling, I guess.

This guy should not be allowed to have a phone.

Is his "bars" story plausible? His theory is more people using the same number of antennas = fewer bars. To the extent bars have any meaning, I understand them to be a rough measure of signal strength rather than quality of service. Too many people trying to share one antenna get lots of bars but bad service.

AT&T has been so busy installing Tektronix GeoProbes in and around major population hubs that it doesn;t have the resources to do towers.  The lovely GeoProbe is installed with a default to capture 20% of all data and voice calls, drop them to a 10-16 drive disk array running 3GB SS drives.  This array is setup to Read/Write at incredible speeds as the data captured is immediately uploaded to regional collection points.  It's aluminum foil hat kid of stuff.  I get it, AT&T has been in bed with Uncle Sam since the late 1800's, their Bell Labs research team is pretty damn incredible and was the seed for DARPA's beginnings, but they've systematically run roughshod over their customers with little to no concern for user rights, privacy or  legal precedents to do so.

Yep. My Android tablet will out perform an iPad at a fraction of the cost. This guy probably had Steve Jobs exhumed, stuffed, and placed by his mantle so he can fellate him thrice daily.
