Thank you patriots.
As your President, Barack O'Bama, I commend you in starting the first Fema Re-education Camp.
The second one being Glenn Becks in Texas.
We all strive to educate the ignorant, in order to further move the United States towards harmony.

Ok, so let's play what if and assume this actually works. What about the factory? That's a shiat location for a working factory. Though it's not the only reason, transportation is a big reason that manufacturing has moved out of the cities and to places close to an Interstate on-ramp.

Even small factories generate a lot of truck traffic: In-coming material, machinery shipments, tooling, chemicals, supplies, even stuff like paper towels for the bathrooms. Every one of those things comes from a different company and on a separate truck.

Winding trucks in and out of multiple gates and through the walled compound will slow down traffic, and probably cause traffic problems at the choke points. Plus putting it in BFE Idaho - where I assume it will be far from established industrial supply and support companies - will make costs higher.

And that doesn't included shipping finished goods. Usually, those parts are FOB at the factory, which means the wholesalers and distributors have to pay the shipping costs. If you're a gun wholesaler, buying from S&W or Browning would probably be a lot easier and cheaper.

It may be patrioty, but it's shiat planning for efficient manufacturing. But I guess if your employees are going to volunteer to pay to living in company housing, the costs even out?

Kibbler: One of the things I don't like about myself is the hope that a massive earthquake destroys this place and they get to discover how effective their 30 caliber penis substitutes are to deal with a natural disaster. You need clean water, you say? Just shoot holes in the ground, Jesus and Jefferson will guide you.

Just shoot people who have clean water and take it.

Except for that whole "likes America" thing, I don't see why liberals would not be in full support of this. It sounds pretty much like something they would come up with except for, as I say "likes America" thing.

What is the Citadel?
The Citadel is a developing community of Patriots in the mountains of Idaho who believe in Jefferson's Rightful Liberty and have chosen to live amongst one another, who have sworn their Lives, their Fortunes and their Sacred Honor to defend one another and Liberty.

OHHHHHH shiat.

Ha, you're right. I meant Eben-Emael, the Belgium fort that the Fallschamjager used gliders to attack. The Maginot was actually pretty strong, that's why they attacked through the Ardennes.

This is a stupid, hilarious idea that I would love to see implemented. Essentially what they're doing is building a company town. I bet later on they'll issue script to use in the company store instead of actual money. I love LOLibertarians who think shiat like this will work. Maybe they'll appoint RON PAUL President after the SHTF, right? I bet they are also looking into Bitcoins as a replacement for dirty fiat American money backed by Fartbongo El Islamic Shock.

You know, idiot trolls always say stupid shiat about Liberals. Most liberals I know that go to extremes like communes and living as enviro friendly as possible. Many of them are easily laughed at because they take it to far (see Portlandia for reference), but they're ultimately harmless with the collective good in mind. Crazy but with the best intentions. Conservatives always do shiat like this when they take it to the extreme, guns, guns, guns, slavery, er, sorry, freedom, RON PAUL, guns, beef jerky, and LOLibertarian beliefs that just encourage people to shoot each other as order and civility break down. Like the Wild West but way less civilized.

I wonder if they'll allow the morons to marry their ARs? They have such a sexual fetish with ARs that I assume you can legally marry one.

So when rats begin to thrive in their garbage and sewage infested fortress will the government deal with the sure to result plague by sealing the gates and letting the problem work itself out or simply nuke it ala Quarantine?

So you're saying that the only difference between liberals and conservatives is how much they like America?

Lochsteppe: LoneWolf343: Wait, so they have a huge space for a gun factory to produce weapons they expect to become illegal...who will they be selling the guns to? Themselves?

This is just one of a planned trade network* of walled nutbowls. Each will specialize in producing one needed good: guns, ammo, flags, patriotic hats, inchoate rage, and so forth. When America That Was descends into fiery chaos due to slightly better-regulated healthcare, these bright stars will form the new American constellation.

* Nutwork?

How is that not the communism they so claim to hate?

Because it's VOLUNTARY. And based on the 2nd AMENDMENT.

I remember the Fark article about this place a few weeks ago. It's good to see they're not giving up yet, it promises to be entertaining.

From the FAQ:
----------------
What Threats Do You Expect to Defend Against?

The Citadel is primarily designed to defend against a grid-down, economic collapse scenario. When most people ask this question they are thinking in terms of defending against violent action but there are other aspects to defending ourselves. Self-sufficiency in terms of food, water and energy are also a form of defense against a collapse scenario, so these are a major part of our plan.

The Citadel is not designed to withstand any direct .Mil or .Gov attack. Nor is the Citadel, in any manner, attempting to provoke any government entity.

-----------

This is pretty funny when you consider they have blog posts for stuff like this:
their blog

Part of their planning is finding a location for services and goods that they can't and won't be providing themselves. Naturally, this specific search is for a nursing home.
Also, apparently URLs might want to attack them.

God damn it subby, you made me give the Citadel a clicky.

2013-01-13 09:42:49 PM
Looking at the map I have just realized that if the Citadel is built according to specifications then how are they supposed to deliver supplies to the weapon factory and weapons to the outside world? Unless they are planning on practicing alchemy and creating steel and other ferrous materials on the spot. Unless they are planning on using swallows to airlift stuff in and out.

qorkfiend: FormlessOne: NewportBarGuy: Oh Jesus. Now that I actually read that... Wow. Yes, keep them all in one place, please. Proceed.

This is the new exploitable opportunity. This isn't the only "planned community" gearing up to become a bizarre little entrenched settlement, and the asking price to get in something like this is very steep.

Just follow the money, and see where it goes.

Easy; the firearm manufacturer who came up with this whole idea, who coincidentally has a firearms factory in a town where the residents are required to own firearms. I'm sure they'll get a sizable amount from selling their concrete corporate houses that the residents get to pay to finish, as well. Oh, and the money laundering with those fancy "Citadel Coins".

Pretty much. As with the other bizarre "settlements", following the money always leads to one greedy asshole happy to exploit the fears and hates of others for fun & profit.

Some quality trolling on their blog:

Hello,

I represent a small group of families in Michigan. Like you, we have been persecuted by our government and our neighbours for our religious and political beliefs. We believe that the indulgent and hedonistic nature of our society will soon be it's downfall, and are taking the necessary steps to prepare!!

It's a huge relief to find other like minded people, and I can't wait to start the application process. Your belief in traditional values is a perfect match with our Islamic faith.

We are very independent and tend to keep to ourselves, but as a good neighbor I will offer open Quran study sessions, and invite my neighbors to observe our prayer sessions. I find it's best when everyone understands each other!!

Thanks again, and I look forward to sharing a community with you all!!

Honestly, it really depended on when you saw it - when it came out in the early 80's, the whole "survivalist" bit was a relatively new cultural phenomenon. The real downer was that Matthau & Williams really didn't work well together - you could take either of them, but not both of them together. They just didn't jive. It had some memorable parts ("... now his tongue is in my HAND...", "...Hi, Jack! Want some pancakes?"), but I do agree that it could've been a lot funnier if they had kept either Matthau or Williams, and then brought in a second, different comedian to play the complementary role.

if you realy want to build fortifications, build at least something like the Magineot-line... it would hold if your attacker agree to use only WWI weapons. And it is kinda expensive.
But a middle-age castle... seriously?

Building this monstrosity on top of a mountain is a terrible idea. No water, difficult to get fuel to, building that wall around a square mile is going to be an enormous undertaking all by itself, and the soil on top of a mountain is always the worst wrt growing crops or feeding animals.

Not that I think this thing will ever get past the "send us your preapplication payment" stage, but if it did the residents would be starving to death within six months.

What that map doesn't show you is all the tunnels that will be underneath. Of course they won't be planned in any sort of way, but if I know anything, these "patriots" won't trust each other and will start a digging.
Won't there be some red faces when two neighbours inevitably dig into each others secret cache area.
Will be even funnier when all the building collapse due to the secret chambers everyone will be making.
Because, engineering is for liberals, you know.

PlatinumDragon: So, basically, party day for the Aryan Nation/Michigan Militia crowd.

It always amuses me that the Michigan Militia is well known/out there enough that people specifically mention that organization. I didn't realize that it was sort of odd to have nutcases organized like that until I went into the military.
