I am sad both that he has passed, and that I never heard his name until today.

Remember that this is who Conservatives are referring to when they say the media has a liberal bias.

Surprising to realize the Civil Rights Act passed a little less than fifty years ago. Thank heaven for this guy who stood up for what is right.

It is so weird to think that even now, I am alive to see basic rights activists die. I would like to be alive in a time where equality is just a normal thing and the pioneers are in the same category as Washington.

Glad he died. Traitorous piece of shiat. Just like all of you who champion him and have never had to deal with a black city.

championed...

I can't read that word without seeing Mitt Romney's smug lying face uttering it.

Suck it racists.

Just because a bunch of farkers happen to have been ignorant of this mans accomplishments does not mean they were are any less brave at the time, or important historically now.

However your willful ignorance about how important the civil rights movement is to the history of this country reflects poorly on your character.

Even in far away, snowy Scotland, I had heard of the guy.

Here;s the full text of "A Flower for the Graves". Read it and, if you have a soul, weep.

I have never read that editorial until now and I am a child of the 50's It was very moving.. For him to have written those words in the south at that time took great courage and conviction.
