I look forward to the next few decades of new weather phenomena. Should get pretty extreme.

And by "look forward" I mean seeing cool pictures ... not personally getting caught in that shiat.

Australian journos have suggested that the storm in the golden sunset has the appearance of a massive glass of amber beer with a frothy head.

And if it's one thing Aussie journos know, it's beer.

You know, there's a pretty good reason Australia was originally a penal colony.

A "freak" red dust storm? Aren't they normally kinda red?

Purple would be more freaky.

Have you heard of the Australian kiss?

It's like a French kiss, only down under.

2013-01-12 10:59:39 PM
With the weird conditions there right now, I'm kinda glad I'm not in Australia.

/although I miss the warmth
//dust storms do not end well, they dry out the bush so much that it turns incendiary

Naboob? That's a funny name, I'd have called those storms "chazzwazzers".

Didn't know that.

//Is that really an obscure reference when "red dust" is mentioned?

Is it anything like the reason the US was originally a place to exile the god botherers?

A thunderstorm with gusts of up to 75 mph picked up sand and dust as it swept over Onslow and toward the Indian Ocean.

AMEN! We have a perfectly good English word "duststorm" for a dust storm. It's bad enough that Bush and Cheney got all you good Republicans and spineless Democrats to dump a trillion in Iraq (and I don't forget that people called me a libby lib liberal for speaking out against this in 2003 2004 2005 2006 2007 etc). But do we also have to speak Iraqi now too to have to remind us of this?

The storm was seen crouching down below hedgetop level as it hurried nervously past the house, muttering to itself, "She'll sing at me!"
