That, kids, was an ass beating.

10-9 Tarek. 48-47 Tarec.

Great takedown defense early to keep out of trouble, then he systematically destroyed Nate's leg.

He won't be dancing tomorrow!

Good fights tonight.  Tarec looked really good and I'm interested to see how well he and the rest of the Strikeforce guys will do in the UFC.

Congrats CKing12 and domino324 for the awesome picks! See you all next week for bellator 85 and UFC on FX 7. (Bellator is on THURSDAYS now, apparently).

the Boobieser is beyond retarded. how was strikeforce a dumping ground for ufc fighters? very few fighters who ever fought in the ufc competed in strikeforce.

how many guys from strikeforce have gone to the ufc? diaz/bigfoot/overeem/shields/henderson... yea what terrible fighters.

Same here, but Bellator and Invicta will hopefully take their place, in some way.

Hopefully Invicta gets a contract with Showtime. That would be awesome.

Diaz and Henderson were UFC fighters 1st, so was Werdum.

Lots of prior UFC fighters have fought in Strikeforce. Just in the past year there have been Nate Marquart, Keith Jardine, Robbie Lawler, Pat Healy, Josh Barnett, Josh Thomson, Mike Kyle, Paul Daley, Ed Herman and others. Five of them fought tonight.

By the way, two of the five "Strikeforce to UFC" fighters you mentioned fought in the UFC before moving to Strikeforce and then back to the UFC.

I hope so. The only problem is that Invicta can't do too many cards a year, so Showtime would probably need another promotion as well, kind of like AXS carries cards from multiple promotions.

Oops. Make that six former UFC fighters on tonight's card. I forgot about Gurgel.

Finally had a good night of picks, but then again I was always a fan of Strikeforce, so it's fitting.

Of all of those mentioned, only Jardine came to Strikeforce as a UFC washout.

What was the answer to that? I was away.

Both his parents are hospitalized.

I like Mauro. He's one of the reasons I started watching MMA, along with Jason Miller, and Rousey. I guess I'm not a purist.

I also liked it when I found Bellator on MTV2. Askren is the shiat.

I watched.

Right. Daley wasn't given the boot for trying a sucker punch after the bell, Marquart and Barnett were not shown the door after testing positive, Pat Healy didn't have that single UFC fight (a loss), and Jeorge Gurgel wasn't cut from the UFC after going 3-4. I don't know if Mike Kyle was cut or if he left the UFC of his own accord, but I sort of doubt Dana was begging him to stay after going 2-1 and biting one opponent on the chest and throwing multiple knees to the nuts of another.

As far as Ed Herman, it's true, he wasn't cut from the UFC and was doing Zuffa a favor by fighting tonight.

So, of the six prior UFC fighters on tonight's card, that's five washouts and one on loan.

I have split feelings on Mauro. I like him because he obviously loves the sport and has genuine enthusiasm for his work. However, his voice kind of grates on me; he doesn't vary his announcer guy voice at all, and it sounds like he's throwing up when he talks.

Askren, well, he's a specialist. He better hope Bellator stays in business, because he's (at best) a top 10 gatekeeper in the UFC.

I like Mauro. I prefer the Goldberg-Rogan team, but Mauro is OK.

I also like(d) Mayhem. He was lots of fun for a while. It's kind of sad how his career ended and the problems he's had since retiring, but I hope he pulls things together. Rousey is doing a lot to help MMA grow and is a good choice for first female to sign with the UFC.

I love Goldberg and Rogan, I just wish that Mike would stop being as sound-bitey as he is. He seems to be a little too aware of how his call will be used in future video packages. It also seems like he has a planned narrative that he tries to shoehorn the action into, whether it fits or not. When you hear Joe correcting him, that's usually why. He's at his best when he just drops all that and just makes it up as he goes.

I agree that Goldberg can be too scripted at times, but despite that he does a good job. I've also been of the opinion that at least some of his mistakes and apparent lack of knowledge is intentional. My theory is that sometimes he asks questions or makes simplistic statements on purpose to give Joe a cue to explain something. Sort of a service for those relatively new to MMA.
