CorporatePerson: Lionel Mandrake: Does Hannity still do the "You're a great American, [caller]" thing?

"You're a *slurp* great American *slurp* Sean!

Wrong derp artist. I think you're thinking of this guy.

[ecx.images-amazon.com image 300x300]

Bill Cunningham, host of "the Great American." He's even derpier and more obscure than Mark Levin, and he's the one who tells every caller that agrees with him "You are a great American." I tuned into his show once last year and he was still herping and derping about birth certificates.

People who don't herp and derp about birth certificates apparently are not great Americans.

I know who that jerk is, but I've never heard his show.

Hannity used to say that, but maybe he stopped.  I used to listen to Hannity, Beck, Limbaugh for long stretches when a former job had me on the road a lot.  No matter what backwoods bum-fark Egypt podunk little shiathole you're in or near, there is ALWAYS a station strongly and clearly broadcasting one of those asshats.

I guess that last one is technically a smile, but it makes him look even creepier and douchier than usual.

Why can't this guy show his teeth, and why does it look like smiling causes him so much discomfort?

Hmm... I was trying to think of where I've seen that face before...

Bashar and Asma's Infinite Playlist: Obama hands out guns and people cry that border patrol agents are being killed with them. He insinuates a national gun registry and people cry that he's grabbing our guns. This guy just can't win (anything but elections).

They tried to make it about guns, but it's really about criminals.

Do you have some proof that Levin whined about the Bush ban like he is doing today?

Who did Levin support for President in 2000 and 2004?

I can barely contain my fury either. Because a nutball walked into a school and murdered two dozen people using a rifle with a pointlessly large magazine that has no practical civilian application, this was not a completely unique situation, and we're talking about farking violent video games again because one side of the discussion is made up of pointless, selfish, evil juveniles who are afwaid the big bad bwown man gonna take awwwwww their toys away. And we concede more ground to evil because free speech doesn't have a toyline made by powerful backers.

Yes, evil. Yes, you. If you are arguing against any sort of improvements to gun control and are even against restricting the size of magazines, you are evil. If you're arguing that violent video games are the problem, you're either even more evil, extraordinarily stupid, intellectually dishonest to a stunning degree, or possibly all three. If you're just posting these things because somebody pays you to, you are in the service of evil and children will continue to die because you are aiding evil.

I'm tired of watching us concede ground to petulant children just so a bunch of well-fed assholes can keep their cushy government jobs. Enough.

I hear this Levin guy occasionally on WLS for few minutes... he sounds like the whiny security guard character that Billy Crystal used to do on Saturday Night Live, only all angry at everything all the time. He also sounds like the one-eyed Monster from Monsters, inc., Mike, also performed by Crystal.

Poor shmuck sounds like he's minutes away from an aneurism every night. He's what I think of when I think of an "Angry New Yorker".

Probably unfair to New Yorkers.

Conservatives are impressionable. They'll repeat whatever catchphrase the NRA, FOX and AM radio repeat to them.

'Yyrannical' was big during the heyday of teabaggery.

It's back now since the gun enthusiasts ramped up their efforts and started committing massacres once a month or more.

dr_blasto: None of these assholes had a problem with GHW Bush banning import of whole piles of guns by executive order. None of them seem pissed about the increased surveillance and erosion of the 4th and 5th. No, its just guns.

I'd also point out that this jackass has no idea what tyranny really is. Misuse a word long enough and it loses its meaning.

This should be the canned response to any "tyranny" BS comment. Farker made my AUG cost me $300-$400 more than it should have!

And mags? Fuggedaboudit!

Marcus Aurelius: anindependent: mittromneysdog: Anyway, so they may do by executive fiat -- I'm trying to read between the lines -- a national gun database. Now, why would we need a national gun database?

This guy goes apoplectic over the suggestion of a national gun database. But he has no objection whatsoever to Wayne LaPierre's proposal for a national registry for the mentally ill. That's right. Gun advocates call a gun registry "tyranny," but have no problem, none, with a human beings who have committed no crimes registry.

This kind of crap is why I gave up my NRA membership. They claim to be pro-freedom. But in reality the American gun lobby is full of totalitarians. If any of them really gave the slightest sh*t about freedom, they'd call for LaPierre's removal for making that remark. But they don't. Which makes them hypocrites.

I left when they put Grover Norquist and Bob Barr on the board of directors. When the lobbyists replaced the sportsmen, it jumped the shark.

I left because of the deal on mags that they cut with Dole, and I've stayed away (even when they offered me a free membership) because of the things that NRA Director Ted Nugent has been espousing.

Support that freak? Never!

skylabdown: Yeah, it's really shocking when people get mad when others attempt to deny them their inalienable rights.

What an asshole!

There are only 3 inalienable rights.

Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

The remaining rights are legislated and applied to citizens (and residents) of the United States and their extent and application is constantly re-interpreted and limited or expanded through the legislative and judicial process. The 2nd amendment rights are among this group.

You know I'm not really that old, just shy of 30. But I never thought in my life that democrats would actually be the party of consistency. And by no means are democrats in lockstep on various issues. But at least most individuals on the left in this country base their views on the facts and the context of an event. Those views don't change based which way the wind is blowing. On the right it seems like positions are based more on what the proposition of the other side is and how can we differentiate our selves from it.

Republicans are basically contrarians whenever the other side is in power. The specific issue does not really matter anymore. Things they vehemently supported just a few years ago are now terrible godless socialist ideas.

What the godddammed hell is wrong with these right wingers? What imperialism? Obama has done nothing, certainly nothing above and beyond what Bush did in terms of presidential power. And "executive power" is just that: the limited power of the executive.

These racist a-holes are sick, sick in the head, and can't stand that America has moved on, and just don't give a rat's ass about rich white male privilege anymore.

I just hope these morons die off, sooner rather than later.

...In fact, it's the Republican Party that's held back expansion of gun rights in some instances. I'll say it again, see the Sportsmen's Act. And it was for a petty reason, if you believe their line that it was because the duck stamp cost too much, or a partisan one, if you believe that they really killed it because a Democrat wrote and proposed it.

Its amazing how they care so much about the 2nd ammendment, but don't give a flying fark about the 4th or 5th ammendments.

It's similar to their cherry picking of beliefs out of the Bible. "Oh, Some obscure passage in some obscure book called Leviticus says god hates gays, but when our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ says to help the poor and to help the sick, fark what that hippy had to say, we should just ignore that completely."
