Edwards sponsored a bill that year to make the jackalope the official state mythical creature

I didn't even know this was an option. I think I'll try to get my state to adopt the chimera. I'm sure I can come up with some bullshiat explanation about diversity and working together, but the truth is I just like it because it's an insane combination of animals. I even have one of these on my desk at home.

pretty much this... unless you're actively gunning for total control of a populace, there's only so much that actually needs to be done at the legislative level.

Wyoming has 99 problems, but lack of an official state mythical creature ain't one.

Perhaps Subby has Wyoming confused with some of the more poorly managed shiathole states like New York, California and Illinois...

Ike had a great idea with the interstate system but one downside is you no longer see jackalopes with the regularity you used to. traveling the SW in the late 50s and they were everywhere.

to be fair, how hard can it be to run a State that has about 3 people living in it.

How about having a basilisk as your Official State Mythical Creature?

Be hell on wheels to have if you don't want people coming in...just "Hey, looky here!" and BAM they're turned to stone.

Wait a minute...maybe I'm thinking Medusa.

it's not hard, but stupidity scales really well in government. (Wyoming has about the same population as Washington, D.C. - and is 1400 times larger by area.)

I think that legislators do this just to get a feeling of what it would be like to actually come to a bipartisan agreement on something.

Hahahahhahah Colorado, where men are women.

Okay, I didn't really put much thought into that and it's not like Utah is a difficult target...But you do have Boulder, so you really can't say much.

Colorado has some awesome beer.

Utah should have the Jackalope, it's been here for as long as I can remember and I'm sure it predates me by generations.

We do have a state gun though, so there is that.

I had a tourist in Yellowstone ask me where she could see a jackalope. She was completely serious. I told her, "Over in Gibbon Meadows--just watch out for the monkeys, they can be pretty territorial."

Wyoming has a very small population and a huge amount of mineral wealth constantly dumping loads of money into the state budget. It's reasonably well handled, but it's a very easy situation to be in, basically the state equivalent of having a trust fund.
