I dunno subby, I would think that if you can recognize a fish out of a lineup to catch a fishing cheater, you may want to reevlauate your life.

Fishing is by and large a game of cheating. Have you seen the level of gear professionals employ with fish finders, scents, specialized hooks, etc.? This is not the advantage a nice pair of shoes gives you for basketball or similar but flat cheating through performance enhancing substances. Fish are tasty, though, and catching them from a river or deep sea is quite fun, so I say only cheating if you get caught, as this man did, but fortunately the fish are not yet sending tribunals to investigate.

Cheating at fishing.

OK, that's just sad. It's like cheating at a crossword puzzle.

100 hours and no jail? For stealing a fish out of an aquarium? Wow

That sounds like an incredibly boring aquarium. Bass?

However, he was caught out when competitor Shane Bentley thought he had seen the bass elsewhere...it had some very distinct markings on its head

Police identified the stolen bass by matching the fish carcass to the missing fish.

Fish forensics have advanced much in the past few years. If this had happened in the 00's, he would have gotten away with it scot-free, walking the streets today.

That's the stupidest thing in the universe.  Yes you can recognize a fish by markings but... stealing one from an aquarium?!  I hope the other fishermen stuck hooks in him for that.

CSB time...

Way back in the day I worked for Ritz Camera/Boater's World in the corporate office. Boater's World had an annual rockfish tournament and I participated several years as part of a team with several of the AS/400 programmers. The year we took third place a VP took first place with a really nice trophy size fish. The remarkable thing was that he took this large fish out of a large cooler with two other really good sized fish and all three of them had cloudy eyes. The cooler was full of ice. Those of you who fish also know that same day, freshly caught fish kept on ice, won't have cloudy eyes. This was a one day tournament and the VP had been out of the office all week before the tournament. It was pretty obvious what was going on but the vendors participating and employees certainly weren't going to say anything.

Well, yes. They're receiving attention as payment. Mostly attention drawn away from their own failings, but that's just the overheads. The real profit above bass line is the egomassage from other gossipmongers for having catch of the day. It's a lot like being a fishmonger in that respect.

I refuse to believe that people actually catch fish.

When I was a kid my family used to go fishing every time we visited the coast. Inevitably we'd be told by some old guy that there was a great fishing spot nearby. "Your arms will be sore from reeling them in."

Bullshiat. I must have spent about 60 hours fishing in my life and I've only ever gotten one bite. That fish fell off the line about two feet below the bridge we were on. It was clearly trolling me.

The whole thing is a huge farking hoax. Open your eyes, sheeple.

A club I belong to runs a bass tournament, it is a small one but we have to inspect the boats and equipment before they go into the water of fish and live bait. The first year I did this I though it was silly but even our little tournament offers $400 for first and another $100 for largest fish. Most of the fisherman will do a tournament on Saturday and an other on Sunday with club event during the week. It is all about the money for many
