So not much worse than those douches who wander around with a Bluetooth unit glued into their ear?

Smart glasses are still an interesting concept, but we have our doubts that they will ever fit into the lifestyle of mainstream consumers. Certainly, at this early stage, a short battery life and clunkier look won't help these glasses. We have even more doubts about the way they look on a person. Similarly, this whole "computer" thing seems destined for failure. I mean, staring at some sort of lit-up paper-like thing behind a sheet of glass for hours on end and hammering your fingers against tiny square pieces of plastic representative of letters? With the months students spend learning penmanship, it's doubtful that these will ever catch on. Furthermore, between the astronomical price and the size required to store one of these computing machines, we have our doubts that anyone other than the five richest Kings of Europe will ever own one.

I wouldnt hesitate to spend $500 on these...IF the apps are there. Thats what google is talking about when they say they've added controls to the side of theirs.

Seriously I can't believe these folks, they've made a pair of glasses that just display your app running? Really? I want a digital overlay of reality that is useful. Something that digitizes what I see, something that gives me relevant information, like peoples freaking NAMES. Something that will attempt to pattern identify what im looking at in a car, and walk me through the repair. Theres SO much potential. When im shopping I want something to scan barcodes and give me reviews and relevant pricing, I want maps showing where I turn while I drive, and my current speed. I want congestion warnings. I want context sensitive information, when someone is talking and references something, I want to have the ability to look it up. I want games. Theres just so much potential. But its got to be interactive.

I swear if I could wear something like the oculus rift 24/7 with video cameras providing the feed in I wouldnt care how dorky I might look, Im married, have 8 kids, and a couple GF's that live with me, I dont need to attract more mates.

And something that will remove clothing and provide best guesses on what everyone would look like naked based on their clothing shapes...and maybe a good infrared or high frequency scan.....my god..portable airport scanning machines...OK maybe this is either awesome or horrible...

I sense a proto-meme starting, let's see how this works.

The same article if Apple had come out with the technology:

"Smart glasses are the new fashion chic. If you don't wear them, you're going to look so stupid compared to the rest of us."

Nogale: Why don't they figure out a way to implant computers into the human body and have done with it? That's where we're headed.
