The President has held the first-ever White House science fairs and Astronomy Night on the South Lawn because he knows these domains are critical to our country's future, and to ensuring the United States continues leading the world in doing big things.

That was my response, too. Having a genuine sense of humor immediately ups my opinion of a person. I'm sorry, but even the younger/ish members of the GOP simply don't have this. Have you ever watched Paul Ryan attempt a joke? Just...just don't, man. I'm sorry to have even brought it up.

And while you were careful to mention that it was not Obama himself who wrote it, for some reason I can totally see the president pulling a stunt like this. If he's not a Star Wars fan (Jesus, who isn't, seriously?), it would be something else. I've signed several sports-related petitions and, given his famous sports interest, would probably shart myself if he wrote back in similar fashion.

Y'know, come to think of it, having a fatal flaw like that isn't necessarily a BAD thing...as long as you don't let the farking schematics get stolen.

People WITHOUT the schematics aren't gonna know to exploit that flaw, and you CAN exploit it if, somehow, you lose control over the station (invasion, mutiny, or whatever).

Little difficult to put the cat back in the bag on this one, especially since ocean launches are the most popular way for private companies to do orbital insertions, and the government'd have a bit of an adventure trying to watch the entire ocean after space ventures had been established as profitable.

That's not exactly true. If you position them at the wormhole points, they can very well be great defensive weapons. They get a first turn bonus to fire upon ships as they warp in through them.
