...And no one knows the time/speed through the traps? Or who's car this is? So this is benchracing in the internet age.

I thought you were going to link "Supra girl" for us subby.

Bad subby, bad.

What the hell?  Over a minute of wanking off and then we don't see the end of the 1/4 or the time, just a bunch of rednecks exclaiming "holy farking shiat"?  Shiatty video is shiatty.

/yes, the car was fast.

I love the smell of nitrous in the morning. Wonder what the time was? I bet it was a 8-9?

CSB: I drive a grocery-getter lesbian-mobile(2004 Forester XT, bone stock). It's a great little sleeper. At one point it was in the top 10 production cars in the world for 0-30mph. I know, not much to brag about, but 1.2 seconds to 30MPH is pretty damn fun around town. Especially when you smoke a muscle car or a nice BMW across the intersection while he's spinning em. It does a respectable ~5 seconds to 60, but I'm no fool. I give those big boys the thumbs up when they hit 3rd and blow my doors off. They generally are not amused.

Yeah, but you're liable to damage your manifold.

Too many doors ;)  and while the Lexus is seriously overpriced for the market, the Supra cost a pretty penny back in the day as well.

I just read in C&D that Toyota and BMW are collaborating on what will be the next Supra.

No kidding, although I will give respect for the "skip to 1:30" advice. Otherwise it would have been 90 seconds of lame followed by 3 seconds of "Whaa..." instead of 10 seconds total.

I love it when I am videoing or taking a picture of something, in which there are few other people around, and some random asshole has to park their ass directly in front of me instead of moving 18 inches to the side.

I'm guessing that's only possible due to the all wheel drive providing huge traction at takeoff? The stock horsepower isn't especially impressive..

mrlewish: I had a geo metro.. could beat anything across the intersection... after that then not so much.

The geo metro could be beat across the intersection on a bicycle.. terrible awful car.

Your required to have a drag chute to slow you down if you run over 150mph. I don't see a chute on the back of the car.  We dumb of the track to let them run.  They probably ran a high 8 on the run.

I want to know what's going on just before launch, where the car goes from "brawwwwwWWWWWWWWWWWWW" to "BAPBAPBAPBAPBAPBAPBAPBAPBAPBAPBAPBAPBAP" and starts shooting farking fire... they open up the exhaust at that moment or what? Surely it isn't just the rev limiter. Maybe it's a turbo wastegate thing?

The only other time I've seen a car do this, I think I may have creamed my panties in the most masculine way possible... it was this "6-second" Nova, also turbo'ed, that is shown driving down the highway in the rain prior to the run (he actually drove it 1200 miles to get there), and it commences to try lighting the asphalt on fire before it launches: Nova

LumberJack, that is called launch control. You hit a button, and the fuel injection computer retards the spark to the point where the exhaust valve opens while the cylinder still has combustion. This releases a bunch of high speed gasses down the exhaust manifold, spinning up the turbo and preventing turbo lag at launch.

It also beats the hell out of your turbo bearings, which is why you don't use it all the time.
