It's real....you could see the mouse running across the sidewalk at 48 seconds, and then POW, red tail hawk outta nowhere.

Loves me some raptors.

I once caught a grasshopper or similar in my office and let it go outside. As the thing (big sucker) flew across the street, a bird zoomed past on a perpendicular flight path and snatched it out of the sky. I swear I heard this in the background at that moment.

I guess if nothing else, those birds had a meal that day when they otherwise might not have..

Well, I guess you can take the wild out of the mouse.....but you can't put it back!

By my count, approximately 22 seconds.

What about that critter, I think it was a penguin, that the hippies spent a ton of money on and wound up getting eaten by an orca seconds after being released. I love that shiat.

It's just an extreme sport version of hunting. You know both sides signed up for it, they have rifles, they have artillery. Well my side had a shiatload more than their side, but I'm sure they had some vintage WWII POS field gun. Anyway, no, not really. Humanize the unit's adopted pet, dehumanize the enemy.

My thought as it was loading: "What's gonna eat it, cat or bird?"

Also, that "mouse" looked rather large to be a house mouse but didn't look rattish. What was it?

I'm wondering how many hits he takes on room inspection what with finding mice in your bed.

While walking to the local shopping center one evening, I spotted a red-tailed hawk perched in a tree just outside a McDonald's. In its talons dangled a full-grown rabbit. It was seriously just chilling there, showing off its prize to the passers-by. "'Sup? Y'all getting some dinner? Yeah, me too."

I was once in a store with a bat flying around. After several minutes of fruitless attempts to catch the thing, they borrowed a net from a nearby sporting goods shop and managed to snag it. I left the store as they were congratulating themselves on having "saved" it only to observe an (aptly-named) murder of crows across the street making swooping harassment attacks which ended up with the bat dead. At least the store employees got to keep their feeling of satisfaction (I didn't bother going back in to let them know the outcome).

How long would he have survived in winter anyway. Was just looking for a warm place to crash for a few months

That reminds me of the time a red-tailed hawk was perching on a very low branch, right over the path I was walking down. I spend a long moment walking under it, marveling at how I was so close to such an awesome, powerful animal. I'm not one step past it when I hear "splat". It took a dump, and was gracious enough to wait for me to get out of the way, but it gave me a look that said, "This was a warning."

From the mouse's perspective, this was a failed catch-and-release. From the hawk's perspective, this was a sucessful feeding. Some days you're the hawk, other days you're the mouse.

I was driving in a neighborhood of Westwood, CA when I noticed a peregrine falcon on the sidewalk. He was literally sitting on a Rock Pigeon and stomping on it with it's talons. The pidgeon looked slightly annoyed, but I knew that it was getting stabbed and crushed. I stopped my car in the middle of the road (which was thankfully empty) and tried to get my camera out of my purse. Before I could get a good shot, a pair of ravens came and swooped at the falcon repeatedly and it flew away with it's prey.

Speaking from experience, mice can get that big, especially if they are well fed.  It wasn't rat size.  It was large for a mouse, though.

Yeah. It's a small rat or a big mouse. Who gives a fark if it doesn't have a bushy tail and gigantic testicles?
