Gosling: Good. Face it, women want to play football. Real actual football that isn't some guy's masturbation aid. They put up with the lingerie because at least the lingerie got them on the field playing in an actual league with wins and losses and standings and playoffs and title games. Now that the idea of women playing football isn't a laugh-inducing thing anymore, they'd like to get serious about the whole thing and play in pads like everyone else. They don't want to be a frat-boy distraction. That is not their aspiration. They want to be treated like actual athletes. And the fact that 'let's lose the lingerie' is being instantly equated with 'let's shut down the league' is really a bit infuriating.
Debeo Summa Credo: I agree that this dooms the league to failure, as nobody will watch it now. That said, the lingerie football league is an embarrassment to society and America. So we've moved up a notch thanks to this change, IMO.
ShawnDoc: Technically, pool, golfing, darts are considered sports. I don't feel they should be, in my mind a "sport" should require a certain level of physical exertion and athletic ability that they don't have. Just like being able to compete professionally in Starcraft requires a tremendous amount of skill that most people don't have, I still don't consider people who play it athletes. To me they're all games, not sports, but I don't get to define what is considered a sport (sadly).
Gosling: drunkest: You understand that there aren't women that can compete on a men's team? They would seriously have to be on hormone therapy or be borderline dude from the start in order to have the bone and muscle mass to take a hit from pro football players and not just lie their quivering. Im a pretty good sized person who is realtively athletic compared to the general public and i know i would just be absolutely demolished by a real linebacker hitting me.Well, if nobody's going to watch a women's league unless it's a transparent excuse to see boobs, and the women just plain will not be permitted to compete alongside the men, what the hell are women supposed to do if they want to play professionally? Seriously. There needs to be a legitimate answer here.Smackledorfer: I too want to play professional sports. I demand a UFC for people 5'6" and overweight with no training.Everytime I try the world says "but you are short and not in exceptional condition" and I get cast aside. The world shoves me behind my desk job. Nerdy and out of shape. The world is unfair. I have to deal with it and unfortunately for women who want to compete at high level sports designed around gaining huge mass. You had the option to try to get into that condition. You're a guy. You had the path open to you. So did I. We just opted not to take that path. The women often are shut out from the very start. There is simply no path available for a woman that wants to play professional football (and the LFL isn't that path either; the players don't get paid and they even have to pay their own health insurance). Their problem is different than yours. Title IX came into being for a reason.
