Cindy has 25 cookies, the government confiscates 21 of the to redistribute to the poor to win votes for reelection, how many more votes will the government thieves get? If Cindy "donates" 6 cookies to a election campaign, how many votes will Cindy get to give her a tax break?

That would be about division. This was about the distributive property. I thing the Boortz column complaining about it was derpier, as also seemed to be complaining about kids learning about it... which is kind of mindblowing for one of the field axiom properties.

I'll concede, the choice of illustration seems pretty wretched in an absolute sense, for getting kids to connect the word "distributive" to the idea being taught. However, I think anyone who wants their complaint taken seriously ought to suggest a better one for that exact pedagogical goal.

and then let's revisit them in ten years and see how they're doing.

"Distribute the wealth!" Bolling exclaimed, reading the worksheet. "Distribute the wealth with the lovely rich girl with a big ole bag of money, handing some money out."

Co-host Kimberly Guilfoyle explained that the algebra worksheet had put her on "high alert" for the liberal agenda in her 6-year-old son's curriculum.

Co-host Dana Perino also expressed concern over an effort to stop children from role playing "cowboys and Indians" at Thanksgiving because experts say that "the historic enemy of Indians was not cowboys, but the U.S. government."

When I read the headline, I thought "this cannot possibly be real." I've seen homeschool curricula that teach that the earth is 6000 years old and hint that slavery exposed Africans to Christianity so it wasn't all bad - and even those didn't object to the distributive property.

They're worried about other people getting in on their racket! Seriously. There has been a long-running right-wing campaign of disinformation and political repression. This is seriously one of those "accuse your opponents of your own crimes and sins" thing.

It's just that they've gotten so far up their own asses that they believe their own hype, which may, god willing, be their downfall.
