No.

I refuse to accept that "Sandy Hook Conspiracy" is a thing.

Let's all come together and prevent this from being a thing.

It's bad enough the 9/11 assholes got their own special on Science channel, or History.. let's nip this in the bud. No polite conversation, no factual or rational discussions trying to prove them wrong.. Just cockpunches.

immediate cockpunches for anyone who spouts this.

I heard that there were people pretending that their houses were destroyed in Hurricane Sandy so that they could get free stuff and attention. This obviously proves that there's a massive government conspiracy and there was no hurricane, and it's all a ruse for the liberal socialists in New York and New Jersey to pick the pockets of taxpayers. Bravo to the brave GOP for seeing through their scheme and voting to deny them aid.

My only marketable skill involves sitting down and using my brain (and sometimes walking around and talking about brainy stuff). If that goes, I'm pretty much unemployable.

Grandad had dementia. From what I heard, it wasn't pretty. Chances are I'll have my dad deal with it.. There's no way in hell I'm going through it myself. When my marbles start to go, I'm checking out.

Well, I DO find these confused "First Amendment First!!" people to be rather annoying... On the other hand, there is nothing wrong with informing us that there aere wackos like this out there. I'd rather 'give the scumbag more attention' by laughing at him than ignore him, and not know that there were people like this out there...

Before settling your final bill, always get your calcium and potassium levels checked.  Mom's been a nurse for 50 years and she has a hundred stories of elderly patients dismissed as having "Senile dementia"  who were actually suffering from a well-known mental confusion syndrome that low calcium and potassium levels can cause.  Now that said, actual Alzheimer's terrifies me (I'm a lawyer so my entire marketable skill is being able to look stuff up well and remember oscure stuff on the fly)  and I too might start thinking about using the Self-service lane if I knew that was coming on.

This infuriates me. This infuriates me in ways I can't articulate.

You really can't fake being a medical examiner describing reaction to autopsies on children. You can't scam a whole community, where it seemed the random person you met had some sort of connection. You can't call BS on the people in the community who were affected, who had a dazed, "there are no words" look.

For him, it was an event to watch on TV, and that's fine. For others, it happened in their community.

Come to think of it, that's probably his issue. He has trained himself to deal with everything presented as a media fabrication. He views life through that lens, so nothing to him is real, there's always a master plan like in a TV show. He's living in an echo chamber, a fantasy world flipped upside down, and can't differentiate reality from fantasy anymore. Time for him to step away from his career for a bit.

StoPPeRmobile: His point about journalists simply accepting without investigation, stands.

In this particular case, what would you propose they do?

What is there for a journalist to investigate here that isn't being investigated?

Would you have them go into the school and document the bodies? I'm pretty sure that'd land them in jail with a trespassing charge, and lead to some of the most vile anti-media screams you've ever heard, not entirely unjustified.

Isn't he suggesting that the killing was perpetrated in a planned manner? It didn't seem he was suggesting the kids didn't die.

I'm not sure which I'm less inclined to believe: that someone would go crazy enough to think killing as many small children as possible was a good idea AND was able to actually do it, or that some government administration would think that kind of killing was worth it to control people's opinions of the 2nd amendment.

They're both pretty ludicrous, really, but I think the latter is a bit more so.

The Face Of Oblivion: computerguyUT: If you don't like it. Don't read it.

Number one, that's not what the First Amendment says. The First Amendment says "You are free to read anything and respond with mockery." Number two, and more importantly, the First Amendment applies only to the government and to certain government-funded or -controlled organizations. Florida Atlantic University may well be such an institution if it is a state institution or accepts government money, but Fark, Inc. certainly is not such an institution.

Yes, we are still free to mock him, and I'm sure his employment contracts will make short work of his job.

But, we're still free to say pretty much anything we want....

Free to make choices
Bound to the consequences.

A 'bit'?

The latter just doesn't hold up. At all. The risk/reward ratio is way too skewed; if even a single damning document was leaked, or a single conspirator developed a conscience, whoever was at the top of the 'Orchestrate school shooting -> ???? -> Ban guns' ladder would be facing not just impeachment, but execution.

Saying the government orchestrated an atrocity like the 9/11 attacks or the Sandy Hook shooting for political points doesn't make sense. Period.

His disconnect from reality kind of reminds me of academic Marxists I used to know who were so enthralled by the text of the Communist Manifesto that they somehow never acknowledged anything that's happened after 1848.

That wouldn't be a bad idea, to be honest. And some of what he said isn't off-base. Things like immediately publishing information with scant validation, the insatiability of audiences during a crisis, and how people twist the events to fit their purposes/catapult propaganda are all valid areas to investigate. That's sort of what mass communications degrees are meant for.

Saying that a shooting did not take place, it's a government-produced meme, as from TFA "His blog, with 222 followers, lays out his theory in detail, suggesting that it was a training exercise in which actually nobody was killed" is disgusting, reprehensible, and earns him a lifetime of hourly cockpunches.

Capgras Delusion, which is a really interesting condition. Sometimes it's associated with schizophrenia, but there are cases where it occurs as a result of brain injury in a mentally healthy person. In the latter case, the victim knows rationally that his dad is his dad, but he doesn't feel the gut-level, reptile-brain recognition that humans normally have for people they know well. Humans are hardwired to recognize faces, and when that mechanism breaks at the most basic level, it's pretty creepy.
