Kinda cool that they went with a visual representation of mankind's evolution for this. Mouth-breathing caveman sitting with an erudite genius.

OK, as a science fan, I'm really looking forward to listening to this. As a Joe Rogan fan, I'm really looking forward to listening to this. As a video nerd, I'm really looking forward to listening to this because some dumbass doesn't know what a TBC is and it makes my brain hurt when you don't have frame sync between jump cuts so I can't watch it.

NDG is merely a competent astrophysicist gifted with above average pontification ability.

OK, I'll bite.

Pontificate: to speak or express opinions in a pompous or dogmatic way

No, NDT does not pontificate. He may be eloquent, emotive, passionate, interesting or any number of other words that describe a way of speaking but to accuse him of pontification is unfair at best or just blindly incorrect at worst.

And I don't think you get to run the Hayden Planetarium if you are merely competent.

I wish we had more like him around.

It's really not that long if you're doing something else while you listen.

These long podcasts help keep me sane when I'm in a poker tourney or doing some mundane task,

I will pray for Dr. Tyson's soul. Hopefully he will find the innerpeace of Jesus Christ before he dies. Joe Rogan just reminds me of a sweaty drunk I had to sit next to on a plane this one time.

His Sonshine: I will pray for Dr. Tyson's soul. Hopefully he will find the innerpeace of Jesus Christ before he dies.

Why does he need your probably imaginary person for innerpeace? Some of us can be happy and even die content without an invisible sky wizard. No real argument for the joe Rogan part.

NDG, I love. Joe Rogan - meh. I only made it about 10 minutes into it before Rogan's attempts at glib interjections made it intolerable.

I believe that only Feynman was a better communicator of science than NDG, NDG and Feynman spent their time to deeply, deeply understand the science and their communication gifts clearly convey the science.

Although I deeply respected Carl Sagan as a communicator, as often as not he was citing other scientists rather than his own knowledge. Kudos to him to select the right topics and know who was good enough to cite. Plus, I kind of imagine that Sagan had a very finely tuned BS detector.
