That article makes A.J. McCarron sound like a jealous attention whore.

I guess if I knew that the highlight of my career had been overshadowed by 10 seconds of a camera looking at my girlfriend, I'd probably be upset, too.

/my wife would be more upset, I suppose

Any story you read on TMZ you have to read with a gigantic grain of salt.

They are still trying, somehow, to pin the fact that a papparazzi died on Justin Bieber. Because he - OH MY GOD - smokes weed.

Assh*le websites like this are the ones who keep giving us "famous" people like the Kardashians & Paris Hilton and keep the sorry likes of Brittney Spears and Kanye West in the forefront of the news. Good for her for backing away from them. It shows that she has a bit of class, which from this article is as difficult as Sanskrit for that crowd to figure out. They have to blame it on the boyfriend, through "sources close to him". "Sources close to him" probably means someone in their office has a relative in Alabama.

2013-01-10 10:04:40 AM
Saban can't possibly be thrilled with this "distraction". Time to sit McCarron down, coach, and tell him he either dumps Katherine and recommits himself 110% to Bama football, or he might as well just enter the NFL draft today.

/only sort of kidding

I missed most of the game, but shouldn't it be a little worrisome that we had trouble with Iowa State at home?

They have a couple fatal flaws though:

1. It's going to be tough for them to score against better teams in the tournament. They've been filling it up more recently, but better defensive teams (i.e. teams that tend to make the tournament) are going to give them problems at some point. McLemore has been great but he's also shooting 48% from the field. Withey doesn't have enough of an offensive game to be a consistent threat. Young doesn't shoot as much as he should, and Releford shoots for a high percentage, but has trouble creating his own shot off the dribble. EJ can get to the rim, but he's also shooting 43%. Every major offensive threat KU has, has a glaring weakness to his game, and McLemore and EJ are the only ones that look like they can overcome that weakness for significant stretches, unless Withey all of the sudden finds a post game in the next two months.

2. If they lose Releford on the defensive end, they're in trouble. Everyone talks about Withey, but Releford is the real anchor of that defense. His effort is what sets the tone and helps disrupt the opponents offensive game. Withey isn't good enough at keeping his man out of the lane, and is guilty of putting himself out of rebounding position going for the block. Way too many of his blocks/block attempts are coming from behind the ball, rather than face guarding his man.

Self is a great coach and he's got this team playing good defense and solid offense, and they have enough talent to beat, say, 95% of the D1 teams out there on any given night. But I think that elite/well coached teams like Duke, Indiana, Michigan, Louisville, and maybe like Arizona and Syracuse will be able to exploit KU's weaknesses and have a decided advantage over them. Or if they were to happen to meet a really well coached mid-major like Butler or Creighton, I think they'd struggle as well.

McCarron's better, but I doubt he'll be a starter anywhere. I think he'll make a decent backup. McElroy, on the other hand, is going to be one hell of a coach someday.

All good points...totally agree on Releford.

At the very least I'm enjoying watching them play more than I did last year.

Greg has been on an NFL roster for two seasons which is better than average for a 7th round pick but yes, AJ is a much better NFL option. Kid has great touch and arm strength. Reminds me a lot of Phillip Rivers

To be fair. TMZ usually has video of people saying the things they report. Also, "Katherine has released a statement to TMZ" would suggest it probably came from her publicist and is likely legit. Fox News and WND on the other hand, make shiat up and cite "Un-named sources" or provide no citation at all

To be really fair, the statement she released to TMZ said AJ had nothing to do with her decision, which TMZ follows with:
But sources close to Webb tell us ... McCarron made it clear to her -- he's not happy that the media is ignoring his accomplishments on the field. We're told Webb is taking her relationship seriously and thinks the publicity could torpedo things with A.J.

So, what were you saying about Fox and WND?
