One of the more surreal experiences of my life was when I was living in this one village in Nepal that had no electricity, but the richest man in the village had a black-and-while television set that ran off a car battery.  On tv days like 20 or 30 villagers would crowd into the room with the television set and watch it with him.  One day a villager came to get me, said I was needed there right that instant.  When I arrived, I saw them watching The Smurfs.

They demanded that I explain the show to them.

To this day I can't remember exactly what I told them.
