One of the more surreal experiences of my life was when I was living in this one village in Nepal that had no electricity, but the richest man in the village had a black-and-while television set that ran off a car battery. On tv days like 20 or 30 villagers would crowd into the room with the television set and watch it with him. One day a villager came to get me, said I was needed there right that instant. When I arrived, I saw them watching The Smurfs.

They demanded that I explain the show to them.

To this day I can't remember exactly what I told them.

It's an Australian thing. I once got seven shades of shiat beat out of me by a group of Smurfs at the University of Newscastle Pub Crawl. Said beating ended when they tossed me in the harbour outside of The Brewery pub.

My wife and quite a few of her friends are playing a smurf game on their Ipads, they all got real excited when a server malfunctioned on Christmas day and was awarding free smurfberries every 5 minutes. I spent my entire Christmas day with my wife carrying around her Ipad and collecting smurfberries, even asking me to do it while she showered or had other obligations. My wife and all of these friends are over 40, it boggles my mind that I would be talking about the smurfberry harvests in their villages in conversations with what appear to be completely functioning adults at this age.
