For all the foresight/luck TNG had about touchscreen interfaces and tablets, their tricorder design was oddly inconsistent with that school of thought and looks pretty chunky today.

The iScanner app actually does stuff, gives you GPS coordinates, uses the compass as a magnetometer, microphone as a decible sensor...
