Oznog: I'm guessing he went for the two-window thing in order to avoid questions of not paying.

Nod. If it was a single-window transaction they wouldn't have the food ready to hand out.

Favorite part is when he said "Just toss it in; I'm a ghost."

Well they better get used to it, cause if I ever get my hands on a Google car I'm gonna send that thing for drive through religiously.

/Just tape a debit card to the window with a note.

Admittedly it comes from a time long before YouTube even existed, and wasn't intended to be funny in the first place, but I always return to this old gem as one of the funniest videos on YouTube.

Oh my God I love this video. September!!! It really is so goddamm funny.

Smoky Dragon Dish: It's OK. Better than most.

But, is this actually Micky D's viral marketing?

I say yes; planned with actors.

The woman @ 1:33 is clearly acting and the way she is displaying the McDonald's logo on the bag is forced/unnatural:
Link

After the employee says "Come see this", the woman @ 2:31 opens the window, but doesn't bother to actually look at the driver's seat of the car?
Link

The kid @ 2:36 is over-acting and see how he repeatedly opens and shuts the window/completely unnatural as if comedy.
Link

Many of the employees act as if they are seeing a ghost driver/scared. Really?
Also, the car appears to be on a track/perfect left to right every time. Isn't he supposed to be looking through a box while driving?

That was fun - thanks for sharing subby.

The thing I enjoy most about these prank videos is watching people shift from their robotic customer-service persona to their real personalities. They're so much more interesting and delightful when they are being themselves instead of having to parrot corporate-speak at customers.

These are my current favorite funny Youtube videos:

I simply love that video. It's partly his voice, and partly the happy humor of the whole thing. It's not at anyone's expense.  Giorgio has that funny grin the whole time. You can tell the lady taking the order is enjoying it and others are listening in with her.  It makes me happy.

The very first one is not McDonalds. It's probably Wendy's. The second one is clearly Chick-Fil-A (logo on the bag, different uniforms). The guy's other videos have a variety of fast-food places. Probably more McDonald's because there are more McDonald's than anywhere else.

Totally serious. The McDonald's logo is the only one where a logo is shown in this video.
You say he has other videos with other restaurants, but primarily McDonald's. If he had only McDonald's in every single video/scene, it would be suspicious (as marketing).

These things need to be called out because it's disingenuous.

That's not a conspiracy. A conspiracy would be something like they were secretly adding a substance to their hamburgers to make them addictive.

What I was pointing out is called "viral marketing" - it's a very real practice and should be considered a form of internet SPAM.

zvoidx: What I was pointing out is called "viral marketing"

And what I'm pointing out is that you might as well be a conspiracy theorist with your inane leaps in logic and remarkable ability to ignore the entire picture. Your theory doesn't stand up to scrutiny.

Your theory is, McDonald's created this magic&pranks video series, and for five years they have posted videos (not to mention managed the accompanying Facebook and Twitter pages) of some dude doing magic tricks and pulling pranks, all so that they could create a convincing viral video at some point in the future. And for good measure, a video series in which some of the subtitles play on racial stereotypes - because that would be awesome marketing.

imageshack.us

Even your reasoning is flawed, reminding me of the odd logic of 9/11 Truthers. One of the girls holds the bag wrong! It's very suspicious the way she holds it! When alerted to the fact that no one is in the car, the manager looks around to see if anyone else is out there! why would she look around the parking lot when there is an empty car in her drive-through? Very suspicious behavior! This has to be viral marketing for MacDonald's!

Nevermind that the first two stops are Burger King and Chik-Fil-et, two major competitors.

Yeah, viral marketing happens.

This isn't it. It's just one of a hundred videos this guy has done. Unless maybe you're suggesting he, ahhh, conspired with MacDonalds...

It's not called "conspiring with", it's called a "client".

"Even your reasoning is flawed, reminding me of the odd logic of 9/11 Truthers. One of the girls holds the bag wrong! It's very suspicious the way she holds it! She doesn't "hold the bag wrong" she holds it unnaturally as to make sure the logo is facing the camera; this is obvious. The other woman looks out the window, but doesn't bother to look at the car at all - this is not "suspicious"; it's poorly executed acting. The evidence of acting points to a marketed video.

The kid going in and out of the window also points to acting. When you collectively add the apparent number of people acting, the prominent logos, the car being repeatedly and perfectly driven from left to right/even though his vision was impaired, the number of people acting unusually frightened as if seeing a ghost - it collectively points to a fake; which is an indicator of a marketed video.

I never said anything about "5 years". But it certainly wouldn't be impossible if a marketing company was behind the channel; it's not illegal. If so, that may include other brands/other clients.
There was a mention in this thread of the guy's YouTube channel having other restaurants - I commented about perhaps there was a focus on McDonald's but I didn't look at the other videos.

My post was mainly in regards to this video up now. McDonald's wouldn't be behind it, but a marketing company would be. If you look at the video, the only logo being displayed throughout the whole thing is "McDonald's" (and Samsung). There isn't any confirmation of other brands. The Samsung logo is in the very beginning on the costume box. Perhaps Samsung and McDonald's are clients.

Why does it matter? Because it's a form of unsolicited advertising and people are getting duped into thinking they are witnessing something real.

There's nothing illegal about this nor is it a "conspiracy". If it's not illegal, then there is no consequence in doing so and this is done mainly for brand recognition.

zvoidx: I never said anything about "5 years".

No, I did. Because the guy has been doing magic&prank videos for five years. As crazy as this sounds, you can actually check on who this guy is and what he does, across multiple websites, and over several years.

zvoidx: but I didn't look at the other videos.

Perhaps you should before digging in and declaring yourself unmistakably correct.

2013-01-11 01:00:00 PM
i liked it.. if you enjoy prank videos you should check out the just for laffs gags. its done in Montreal and there is at least an afternoons worth of stuff to keep you going.

here is your startoff point
one of the interesting thing is that there is no audible dialogue but you can clearly understand every prank.

She could most likely see that the car was empty as she walked to the window. And as I said before, that weird kid was acting weird because he's a weirdo and thought he was alone. I've been there.

You keep stating that things are "so obvious." Of course you're seeing things that confirm your own bias.

2013-01-11 06:03:18 PM

Mentalpatient87: She could most likely see that the car was empty as she walked to the window.

Right. Plus, her employee went and got her. The employee presumably saying as she did, "There is no one in this car!" So the manager already knows no one is there, can confirm it with a quick glance even before she opens the window, and therefore is going to look around to see if someone ran off.
