(Missoulian)   If you' plan to burglarize a house, don't stay long enough to shower, wash clothes, drink tequila and have a bite. Because once you're in the back of the cop car, you'll wriggle into the front seat, try to drive off, hit a cop and get shot to death   (missoulian.com) divider line 61

SirDigbyChickenCaesar: halB: First day of cop training:

"Remember this handy little tip whenever you want to murder someone: Jump in front of the car they are driving, shoot them a million times, and claim they were coming right for you. Just like in South Park."

Seriously getting sick of cops pulling this shiat.

The first day is mostly admin stuff, paperwork and gear issuance. A light lunch then some talks in the afternoon and introductory pt. So it wasn't that day. I did miss one day of the academy because I had the flu and was evacuating every orifice I own so that might have been the day they had the "play chicken with a several thousand pound deadly weapon just so you can use your side arm against a moving target that has tremendous ballistic protection and doesn't give a shiat if he kills you" evolution. I do know I missed the K9 demonstration though and that's a bummer.

See what fun you miss when you have the shiats?.

Wife of Billings man killed in stolen police car charged with burglary

Each word of this headline makes you retrace the previous words and they take on new meaning. When you get to the end you realize the whole could mean several things. It's like a good novel.

Indubitably

studebaker hoch: LESSON: Do not professionally embarass a cop.

How does one do that, exactly?

For a cop, it's embarassing to look up and see someone you just arrested drive away in your car without you.

I'm sure the chief will understand. These things happen.

Right.

The cop at this point will do ANYTHING to unf*ck himself.

This is where the "he hit me with the car" story sounds fishy. Really? Where, exactly? Having personally seen someone get hit by a car, I'm amazed this cop was able to somehow rise up like The Terminator despite his injuries and have the composure to shoot this guy in the back so many times.

He must be some kind of supercop.

/if I had done that to someone stealing my car, I'd be up for murder.

This being Fark, I'm not at all surprised to see cop haters looking for reasons to say that the cop should not have shot the suspect.

Adding to my last post, there was even a case in my area where a suspect tried to drive off, dragging a cop with his vehicle as he did so, was shot dead by the cop's partner and the suspects family knew full well what he did to get himself shot, but still said the cop shouldn't have shot him and filed a wrongful death lawsuit

I don't hate cops but these stories bother me.

Last I checked, we don't have the death penalty for burglary or auto theft or drinking someone's booze or pissing someone off royally.

I find stories like "He tried to run me over" or "He was reaching for his waistband" to be highly suspicious.

I see your point, though it seems like if an officer waits until someone who may be reaching for a weapon actually produces one, then the officer is more likely to get hurt or killed before the officer can prevent it from happening.

These cops that are getting struck by vehicles consistently appear to be in remarkably good health. If you've ever seen a pedestrian struck, they don't get up afterwards. Quite a few never get up again.

The gun in the waistband seems to never be recovered. Why somebody would try to pull a non-existent gun on an armed cop currently escapes me.

We don't know what happened. We're just being told, by someone with a huge confict of interest in the telling of the story.

I'd like to see cops with personal "dash cam" recorders that roll constantly when they're on duty. Maybe built into their uniforms somehow. A good video record of what happened would protect both the cop and the public. Can a camera be built into a gun, without changing the performance of the gun?

As it is now, we have no witnesses, and a dead suspect telling no tales.

ktvq.com has video of the shooting, although it's not entirely clear where the cop who may have been hit was. You can hear all the shots and see the car strike a parked truck before coming to a stop.

Um,

This one pushes the "Whaddya HAVE THE REACTION TIME OF A POTATO?" button for me. If you are authorized to execute citizens on demand, you better have a better discerning capacity and reaction time than the average knuckle-head criminal, mans. Slow down.
