That's the best buzzfeed article I've ever seen. I didn't know they had people over there that could write.

I still don't get why people thought that was so great.  He answered 9 questions, only one or two of which had anything to do with running the country.

See? That's why aspiring furture presidents  should spend time a "community organziers".  It gives you valuable skills on how to identify  groups of people with common interests, how to motivate them and unify them.  Obama knew doing an AMA on reddit would completely soldify his geek cool crediential s and endear him to millions of tech-savvy, upper middle class, slightly lefty folks that make up the main internet demogrpahic, and that would reap huge rewards in donations and votes down the line.  Mitt Romney, with his now-infamous "socring system" that added up certain pre-determined factors to see if a particular event earned enough points to merit his time or not, had no way of accounting for the sorts of intangibles Obama could simply "feel" from experience.

It probably could have gone better if Reddit's servers weren't immediately destroyed.

Reddit's servers didn't really die for another hour or so, long after he left.

Yeah well, when he did (or at least tried to), he lost the first debate to Romney.

To you and me and others it would've been important to hear how a person would run the country if elected President; the majority of voters aren't us however.

Because he did something few people really, truly expected: He came to "our" turf, so to speak, and played ball without coming prepared with pre canned political BS. It may not have been a Frost/Nixon level interview, but it was something that was personable to those that live and breath the internet. It, in essence, set him apart from the regular political ass hats. Recaptured a bit of that feeling from 2008 that he was an outsider figure, something that resonates very hard with those that identify the most with the internet and its communities.

Cmon man. 9 questions was all he got off before the internet shat its collective server pants. That AMA got linked on Reddit, Yahoo, AOL and others... including Fark.

Yeah I know they were a mishmash of campaign answers and etc, but where the "It's the thought/ effort that counts"? He actually did it.

1derful: Most redditors really believe that questions about fighting ducks and horses are more important than questions about drone strikes and civil liberties.

LOL Reddit is populated by mostly high-schoolers +/- 3 years. I believe that the top rated comment on the whole AMA was some dickhole redditor who corrected the presidents grammar. Not surprised by that the swaths of 16 yr olds couldnt grill him on Libya. (But that would have been completely totally awesome.)

It gets a much higher number of hits in a day?

People like Reddit because it's nearly content free.  You get funny pictures, and the only times the real world intrudes into the site is when everyone agrees that you should care about this.

Plus there are good smaller subreddits for topic discussion.  But the site as a whole is pretty much devoid of content.

Here's an example, just a little sample - of how I could just DERP a man:

House Republicans are apparently confused about how money works
And from on-high, The Messiah said "there shalll be no guns" for The Constitution does not apply to The One
FOUR WEBSITES set up 1 to 4 days BEFORE the shootings for Sandy Hook Shooting victims to make donations to shooting victims. Tell Jerry Lewis he's doing it all wrong
Deny, deny, deny, delay, delay, delay, hope it goes away; that's the Libtard way
In the 2800 pages of Obamacare, the NRA had someone sneak in some very interesting gun provisions. In other news, Republicans have decided they like the bill and Democrats want it repealed
You can't create a trillion dollar platinum coin because we don't have access to a trillion dollars worth of platinum. Checkmate, libs
Trustee must wank in front of at least two people before it is indecent
President Obama makes Nixon look like a softie when it comes to presidential pardons
Created the EPA, the Clean Air Act, OSHA and proposed a universal health care plan. Started the War on Drugs, ended the war in Vietnam. Checking in at 100 Years old today, Richard Nixon.
Oh. You're a hater? Well pardon me
Conservative Got'cha o' the Day: a $1T platinum coin would sink the Titanic
Old and busted: Obama could mint a trillion dollar coin to avoid hitting the debt ceiling. New hotness: Obama is legally required to mint a trillion dollar coin to avoid hitting the debt ceiling
Birthers suggest impeaching John Roberts if he swears in Obama, hoping for the best case scenario of Obama choosing the new Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Then again, Teapublicans have never been known for their long-term thinking skills
