I have seen a commercial where a water ride goes over the side of a cruise ship. Waiting to hear about a 300 pounder lost at sea.

Do you actually control anything like maneuver the ride? If not, you are not a test pilot. You are a test rider.

Pros:
Short climb, easy on the legs.
Double rotation ring is fun.

Cons:
Last two feet burn like a mother farker.
My coccyx is broken.

2/10. Would not ride again.

Or you find out one corner's wall isn't quite tall enough when go down perfectly, gaining just enough speed, flip over said wall and break an arm in 3 places...

/happened at newly opened water slide here; they wound up putting extended walls on all corners, just to be 'safe' lol

Even though I have swam many rapids on western rivers - Lava Falls in the Grand Canyon, all of Split Mountain on the Green River, Yellowbank and Powerline in the Taos Box, Big Drop II in Cataract Canyon and many in Desolation Canyon, I'd pass on "testing" out new water slides. As mentioned above, falling over a chute turn onto concrete would be worse than mother nature! (I did however limp for a yearf after a boat filp at Crystal Rapid in the Big Ditch!) I wouldn't mind trying out a few surf wave machines though!

Or you're the lucky person to find that screw that wasn't all the way flush with the ride.......or some other horrifying anomaly (besides the short wall you mentioned)

Final evaluation of the "Screaming Terror": speed extremely good, ride smooth, stopping in low-water channel somewhat rough.  I may have become pregnant.  Should list 'risk of accidental conception' on ride hazards sign.  Otherwise: highly recommend.
