When does our National Guard begin executing AIG executives?

Is that going to be on TV?

I have no quarrel with the sentiment she expresses, but she's going to have to learn that Democrats installed her solely to be a reliable party line vote.

i'm not so sure.  I think there was more than a little bit of a desire to troll the GOP at work on her appointment to the banking committee.

Yeah, I don't understand what his post even means. She was elected as a Democrat to vote reliably Democratic...yeah, and?

I don't see Elizabeth Warren as the kind of person who is going to sit by complacently toeing party line and refusing to attack corporate greed like this.

Absolutely.

Considering Obama is appointing someone who has links to Wall Street for Treasury Secretary, we certainly need a voice like hers.

If we can jack boot our ways into "forcing them to accept a deal", then we can jack boot AIG out of existence. Enough bullshiat, start lining them up at the stockades.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if AIG decided to go ahead with their lawsuit.  in their view, anything you do to make money is morally and ethically justified.  anything that prevents you from making maximum profit is evil and immoral.  basically, AIG is run by the Ferengi.  stupid Ferengi at that, who don't actually understand the marketplace that they're in right now.

Senator Warren sounds lovely to say and I'll not stop saying it until I turn blue and pass out.

Senator Warren.

Senator Elizabeth Warren.

Director Warren of the the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau?

No, Senator Warren of Massachusetts, thank you very much, Republicans!

Did I miss the thread where AIG was suing the government for not giving them better terms when we paid them a couple hundred billion dollars to not destroy the country?

Ferengi? More like a bunch of vorcha mimicking a volus banker they saw one time.

I just want to take this opportunity to point and laugh at the Republicans, because if they hadn't sunk her appointment to the CFPB, she wouldn't be on the Banking Committee instead.

No? Have I been particularly inconsistent on my lukewarm opinion of centrist liberals? It is the wont of liberals to deride anyone who actually does anything productive or dares to actually stand up to the right in any more than a token way as "crazy".

I think she would have kicked much ass there too. Sometimes these obscure agencies become really powerful. But yeah shes in a great position now.

Can you imagine if she runs in 2016? She will have an army of passionate young female volunteers. She will be unstoppable.

The derp is very strong in the threads. There's one guy who's spending his day playing devil's advocate with each and every single posting. It must suck when you run out of medication.

As for Sen Warren, she's on my facebook list along with Colleen Lachowitz. Everything they post makes me smile.

I see AIG's Board adjourned their meeting and declined to state their position on the lawsuit question.

So what's the over/under? Will they or won't they?

Not really, she cost them $20 billion just as the Interim head.   When the foreclosure mess first hit the fan, particularly the bit about Robo-signing and fradulent documents, the Banks went to the state AG's who were threatening to sue/prosecute them and offered to settle the whole thing for about $5 billion.  The states were just about to accept that figure but Lizzy had her research team at CFPB do a study on exactly how much oney the banks had SAVED cutting the corners they did.   Her team came back with a figure of $20 billion in savings  for the banks by breaking the law.  This number got shared with the State AG's and suddenly the settlement offer went from $5 Billion to $25 Billion overnight.

/oh they mad...

There you go again. It would be much more elegant if you could use the word "liberal" three times in your posts--we have an overall cultural predilection towards groups of three, and I think it would kick your writing up to the next level.

the bank lobby is going to come at her though.  first with guns blazing, then more silently if/when that approach fails.  look for hints and rumors of impropriety.  whispers of corruption.  conspiracies galore.   the plan would be to discredit her somehow.  make people doubt her goals.

Just so I get this straight. It's a rumor that AIG might join others in filing a lawsuit against the federal government and we're all grabbing pitchforks already?

As a fire-breathing liberal that works at AIG, if this rumor is true, that would seriously, seriously fark up my mojo.
