That's a cool looking dog, but you'd pretty much have to have extra chromosomes to mistake that for a farking lion. It's like 1/8 the size, for one thing. The human it's accompanying should also be an indication. For another, lions don't live in Norfolk - that's kind of a clue too.

maudibjr: The norfolk zoo is oddly laid out. There are a few animal exibits and a lizard house near the entrance. Then a vast open area with no exhibits whatsoever. then at the far back of the property, these nice large modern exhibits

That's the "Human Viewing" area for the animals. (And the invisible rape-aliens)

/also what shiatty thing to do to a dog

THIS. Shiatty thing to do to your dog.

Also, has Virginia ceased to be for lovers and is it now for morons, because I cannot squint hard enough to make me think that's anything but a dog.

SnarfVader: LoL. That's what my wife tells me. They're all on Married Savings Time, though (bought about a year or more after they were released).

Haha. That's how I am too.

"The Virginia Zoo checked and all of their lions were secure. The Zoo director tracked down the owner."

That part made me giggle. How did s/he do that? THAT's the real story here!

An officemate of mine caught a brief glimpse of it dart out of an alley as she was driving. When she got back to the office, we all thought she was out of her mind when she said something to the effect of, "Either I'm going crazy, or I just saw an escaped lion."

Looking at the picture in a fark thread, it's obvious that it's a dog; however, the people who reported it probably didn't see it standing still for everyone to take a good, long look at it. The dog was running around unleashed, darting in and out of alleys, behind parked cars, etc. which is why some people might have mistaken it for a lion.
