Wikipedia saysBlack Velvet has seen a resurgence the last two years especially in the US Midwest where sales increased by 25% in 2008, 38% in 2009, and estimated 47% in 2010.

Well, now we know where it all went.

Wait, how did it take six whole hours between the time that police officers heard gunshots in the store, and when the "Emergency Response Team" actually entered the store?

This is clearly a sign we can hand in our guns as the government is clearly capable of defending us from harm.

Since it was after hours and there was no indication that anyone was in direct danger, they were probably trying to get information and assess the situation, rather than charge blindly in to a location known to have a large amount of fire arms and ammo, where shots had already been fired.

And? No carry permit doesn't mean the gun is illegal.

I betcha that SUV was legal. It did WAY more damage than the gun.

One of the guys in our house when I was a university undergraduate was ribbed for months because he punched a tree he bumped into while crossing campus. Quiet guy, hot temper, crazy man when drunk. Mind you, we were nicknamed "Animal House" after the movie. The house was full of jocks and heavy partiers. My marks raised the grade point average (out of 100) by about half a point.

Jocks are not uniformly stupid. Although many of the jocks in our house played on several teams (winter and summer sports), the football team averaged in the 60s, the hockey team in the 70s, the soccer team in the low 80s, the rugby team in the high 80s or low 90s. The class valedictorian was on the soccer and rugby team and also President of the Student Government--and a Rhodes Scholar, as much because of his sports activity as his class activity and marks.

The jocks who run the world of government and business after college are not the same jocks who form the bulk of the world's mall cops and night watchmen. The captain of the football team had a labrador named Scrum.

No. It's almost like you're saying that today's responsible gun owner is tonight's drunken shooting rampage. We should do something about that.

I gotta second the WTF on 6 hours? Granted it was late, and it probably takes almost an hour to get the swat team together in a place that probably doesn't have those officers always on. Then you have to block off the whole area. So I could see maybe two. Well at least it ended ok. No one got hurt. And on the plus side for the other guy any other roommate you get will be better.

Not sure if that's relevant. Are you suggesting that brave citizen-patriots with CCW's would have resolved the situation more quickly?

We should make carrying a gun while drinking illegal. Oh wait, it already is. We should make drinking and driving illegal. Oh wait, it already is. We should ban alcohol, guns, and cars just in case somebody might do something stupid.

You have a man with a gun cornered in a large store. There is no one else in danger inside at that hour. You take however long to want to enter. Best case scenario is to wait him out and make him come to you, that didn't work because he was taking a little siesta.

It was also December 29th, so probably a lot of folks on vacation and/or drinking their own unknown quantities of whiskey.
