I don't think China can count on any Shaolin monks to fight for them. Just a hunch.

Since the only country that has a drone that could plausibly engage another aircraft with a drone is the US(and they failed), they can just spend a lot of money to stare at each other and uninhabitted islands.

After what Japan did to China in WWII I'd be rooting for China.

I really think the better solution is to have marvel comic give representation for the chinese and japanese in the form of the radioactive man and sunfire.

Gotta go with Japan on this one. Unless the Chinese want to step up their game and make human powered drones covered in lead paint and powered by the souls of lost children, I think Japans going to kick their ass in the drone wars.

Yeah, you know what, China? You do not want to revisit 1931-1945. You do not want to poke that hornet's nest. I know you're all making money, and having a third of your population all "middle class" and that, and you've got all that semi-modern, fake Soviet military tech, but you do not want to fark with the Nipponese.Especially with Uncle Sam having their back.

2013-01-08 09:08:49 PM
I guess all things considered this would be the 'safest' option. As long as no actual human blood are shed, or pilots with sons and daughters getting blown out of the air, things are much harder to escalate beyond a point of no return.

This is how we should fight wars in the future, with drones. At the end of each month, a winner is declared and the loser has to give up 5 of its politicians for public execution. It's full of win.

I wouldn't be so sure... China's military is not the same as the one from 20 or 30 years ago. They have made significant improvement and progress in terms of hardware, training etc.

Japan's only truimph card to play is the US 7th fleet.... but as we all know public opinions (ie voters) matters much to politicians. Somehow if SHTF I don't think the average real American 'patriot' will stomach the thought of sending American sons and daughters to die for the 'japs' who are fighting with the 'chinks'. I would hazard a guess that 99% of non Asian Americans can't even physically tell the difference between a Japanese and a Chinese.

I doubt the U.S. would get involved other than materiel support. any war with china would disrupt the United States economy greatly and would most likely involve large numbers of casualties on both sides.

Furthermore with what Japan has done to China/Korea/practically any other country they've interacted with historically I don't have much sympathy for Japanese imperialism.

FTFA: Tensions over the islands - called the Diaoyu by China and the Senkaku by Japan - have ratcheted up in past weeks.

If this thing escalates, it's just a matter of time before they'll be shooting all over the Bukkake islands, too.

We did fight against the 'gooks' for the 'gooks'. Don't forget that part of history.

Why is it that China has an eternal hatred of Japan for their pre-WW2 atrocities, whereas the same is not true for Germany in Europe?

Also, the U.S. is friendly with most of its former war enemies. England, Mexico, Spain, Germany, Austria, Italy, Japan.

You'd lose that bet. While there's no love for Japan in that area of the world it's China and it's ultimate goal of Far-East hegemony that worries them far more.

Because China achieved post colonial independence as a communist nation. Until Nixon used China as a wedge against the Soviets they were excluded from participating in world affairs politically and economically. Keep in mind that for a long period of time Taiwan represented China as far as the US was concerned.

Another important data point is the incredible racism between many Asian nations.

The whole China vs. Japan thing goes back a lot longer than anything from Europe. It's tough to develop historical hatreds in Europe, because alliances shifted so often throughout history. But Japan and China? Those two have never gotten along.

The loss of Japanese pr0n and that whole "WTF Japan" subculture that has kept us entertained for so long would be devastating. What happens if we lose China? We'll have to pay more for t-shirts and iPhones.

Thanks, Communist China. What the world needs more of is an angry nuclear-armed people who sell used teen underwear in vending machines.

This will not end well. Anytime an old Japanese man starts talking about expanding the global influence of the Japanese military, some nation ends up taking it in the shorts by surprise.

And, remember, the Japanese are not ones to hold back. Ask the Tsarist Imperial Navy, the US Navy, the Korean populace and most of Asia. When these guys fight, they fight dirty, cheap, long and hard.

Besides, if one guy with a briefcase can stop an entire column of ChiCom tanks, those Communist Chinese must be pussies. Attacking in waves against the Japanese? Good luck with that, Comrade.
