Washed up fun-house?

It's all downhill from here?

You can't leave me hanging like this, subby.

I wonder what charge they arrested him on?  or do we just throw people in jail now no matter what and make shiat up later to charge them with...?

2013-01-08 08:18:48 PM
And what is the bail for? Do they imagine he will plant flags on more submerged amusement park rides? Fine for public nuisance at most and I don't think he even deserves that.

Trespassing. A classic. A law most people break daily without realizing it, thus giving the City's Finest wide discretion on who to arrest. Not enough for jail, but it puts a lovely arrest on your record.

TFA doesn't say he was "arrested" just cuffed and removed from the property. If he is charged I'm guessing trespass ?

Clearly subby means we should spend more money on infrastructure.

Can't they just pull "a danger to yourself or others" and call it a day?

Trespassing I would imagine. Though I'm not familiar with the area so I'm not sure if Seaside Heights is private property or not.

Godamned beat down and tasing is in order for any law abiding citizen who thinks planting an American flag, Our Standard, Old glory is a trivial thing.

This would include the pigs.

You get cuffed, you're going to be arrested (99.99 repeating).

You can beat the wrap, but you can't beat the ride.

The comments FTA are ridiculous.

"As a native of New Jersey, let me say that wiping Seaside Heights off the map was something that needed to be done, and I am thankful for it."

Can anyone from NJ confirm?

My buddy's a firefighter for Seaside, and he said that this just made his job ten times more difficult. They just started easing restrictions on people coming back to the island, but shiat like this just jacks the restrictions right back up.

My dad once walked across a frozen pond in Queens. Just to see if it could be done, mind. On a date. With the woman who would turn out to be my mother.

Waiting for him on the other side was a cop and a trespassing ticket. No arrest, because NY cops apparently had better things to do in the late 1960s.

// cool story, dad

my impression of the US is that we've become a country that reflexively arrests people who step outside the norm, then make up reasons for it later.

Does anyone know the circumstances by which that roller coaster is still submerged? I mean, am I supposed to believe the water has not receded after almost 3 months?  Was it on a pier and the pier sank into the ocean without the coaster collapsing?  I'm honestly confused about it.

Trespassing on what? He was on the water, not on zoned land. And the coaster he was standing on is essentially... well, not flotsam or jetsam, because it's not floating and not from a ship. I'm not sure what the correct term would be. But it's been sitting unclaimed since well over two months ago, and from the photos they don't appear to have even posted signs indicating an intent to reclaim their property.

Seems to me he was not trespassing. I'm sure they have some law that lets him be arrested regardless because we live in a hurr durr turrists police state, but I don't think trespassing is it. Or at least, if that's what they claimed, I'm betting the charge was BS because the roller coaster now sits well outside the zoned property boundary.

C'Mon Weaver, you know good and well that there are probably areas all over that disaster area that are off limits. He place himself and rescue workers in danger.

Yea, you don't really want to go north of LBI. Ocean City is nice except for being a dry town. I'm a Sea Isle City guy myself.

Did they update the story after you commented? Seems to say "arrested" for me.

"Police in New Jersey today arrested a man who surreptitiously climbed Seaside Heights' submerged Jet Star Roller Coaster, and planted an American flag at the top."
