It will if the observer is far enough away and you don't watch all the way to the end of the video.

It's too late. The lake has claimed them. Spring will come again.

Yes, it will.

I grew up in Texas and Atlanta, both places where snow and ice are wonders to behold and experience in every way possible, whenever possible.  But even I, as a young, invincible, idiotic boy from the South, knew that you DON'T fark AROUND ON BARELY FROZEN LAKES!

Father of missing Budd Lake teen: 'All I want is closure. I want to be the first to hug my son'

You should probably wait for him to thaw first.

Every once in a while, teenagers need to be reminded they're not immortal.
This often entails the loss of one of their own.
:-(

I'm sad for the families, but goddamn that was a dumb thing to do.

If you are going to ride your bicycle on ice, you should deflate your tires a bit, so you'll have all your weight spread across 2.75 square inches of surface, instead of 2.5.

This problem can be solved with a lake-crossing tax.

if there were only some sort of metaphore about ice that would have helped in this situation.

Or perhaps some way of determining the temperature out of doors in comparison to the melting point of water.

Sad.

sad -- but no sympathy.

This is what happens when you raise retards AND take away all power of teachers in schools to force your child to learn. Raising a generation or two of people while telling them the entire time they are special, awesome, perfect, and always right will get you crap like this more and more. If you are going to raise stupid kids - you need to watch them 24/7.

Used to live in Wisconsin.....every winter several people would come up missing on either the partially frozen lakes or rivers.....usually the authorities had to wait until spring to find the bodies. very sad....oh yeah.....and accelerus, you are an asshole.

"They'll be getting my son out soon," Schimanski said. "All I want is closure. I want to be the first to hug my son and nobody is going to deprive me of that."

He's dead lady. Dead.

Dayum! 100 feet of ice? That's pretty thick, how fat were these kids?

2013-01-08 03:34:14 PM
This lake is local to me...one of the places I was considering for Ice Fishing; obviously the ice is not thick enough. Reports say that they tried to cross the lake and were significantly far from shore...near the shore the ice is thick enough I guess.

2013-01-08 03:35:39 PM
I'm 10 minutes away from that lake.

Apparently it was common for the kids to go on the frozen lake. They wanted to go ice fishing.

It's sad but, eh...it happens.

I'm lucky to be alive with the stupid shiat we did as kids, knowing full well the risks. I bet that guy had a blast before he hit the water. Riding a bike on ice is a ton of fun. Get going as fast as you can, hit the ice, put your feet down and lock the back up as you turn.

/has fallen through more than once, but not my whole body luckily.

Jument: "It may be that the purpose of your existence is to serve as an example for others."

Bwhahahahahahaha! That is funny. The purpose of your existence is nothing more then the biological imperative to procreate.

"They'll be getting my son out soon," Schimanski said. "All I want is closure. I want to be the first to hug my son and nobody is going to deprive me of that."

My first thought was "Don't think there is going to be a long line for that."

FTFA: The teens are believed to have fallen through thin ice just before 6:19 p.m. when police began getting calls reporting screams for help coming from Budd Lake.

So when someone screams for help you call the cops and then what? Go back to watching TV or something? Why didn't anyone go see if they could help until the cops arrived?

Grew up in Florida. Visited family in NJ as a kid. There was a lake by my cousin's house. We were only allowed on the ice after the grownups had checked it out by drilling through at a couple spots (back in the day all they had were old school hand cranks). The process was repeated after warm spells.

Of course we didn't always listen and fell through near the shoreline a couple times, but we're all here.

Sorry for these kids. Evidently one was trying to save the other.

My cousins in Ohio lived on a lake. In the winter they wouldnt go on the ice until one of the neighbors would drive his tractor on the ice to test it out, then until about March it was game on.

I think I remember a dirty job where Mike was on a job with a tow truck company that would pull out trucks that fell through the ice. Usually it was people trying to get a jump on ice fishing.

10 dumbfarks got stranded on the bay of Green Bay yesterday.  Guess what, taking a 4 wheeler on 5 inches of ice while it's in the mid to upper 30's is a great move.

She said Clyde liked to ride bikes and fish.

The fish gave of their own for a time, and then they demanded a sacrifice.

They pulled a body out a couple hours ago. No news on the other kid yet.
