Hey, Hermes was awesome. If I were ever to engage in religious belief, he'd be my pick.

Hermes is fine but Priapus would be more appropriate for Fark.

I don't know about that. Legend has it that when Pan couldn't figure out how to bang Echo, Hermes taught Pan to masturbate. Pan then taught it to human shepherds (it's unclear if that was before or after he had the shepherds rip Echo to pieces).

The god who invented masturbation is pretty appropriate for Fark.

This might not be bad.  The only gods worth having reflect your values.  The sooner people start realizing this, the sooner people will realize belief in gods is not nearly as important as having a consistent set of values one lives by.

i've been hanging with the pagans a lot lately.  oddly enough, they don't preach or recruit.  you have to ask THEM about their beliefs.  its a nice change of pace from the christian in your face 'convert or die' speeches.

while I can't say i'm a pagan, i'm not exactly christian these days either.  then again, I did switch affiliation to the Democratic party so...godless heathenism seemed a natural fit.

How many pieces of flair do you need to become a Greek god?

Problem: Modern religion can't compete against snarky, sophomoric pseudo-scientist punks whose cynicism will forever prevent them from being touched by God.

There; I said it.

I've been saying this for years. 1 god is boring. Why not have many? They are far more fun, can easily be related to, have flaws and make for someone worth following. A perfect being that won't show itself and demands perfection from you while giving you zero tools to achieve this is just an asshole.

2013-01-08 12:53:37 PM
I've been saying for years that the Greek gods should be brought back.

They were way more interesting than the gods our current monotheistic religions provide us.

Plus, writers could make up new stories of their wacky adventures. Think sitcoms, movies, Saturday morning cartoon shows....The possibilities are endless!

one could argue we never really stopped worshiping the Old Gods.  take a look at what the Republicans do in the name of their god...do you really think they're worshiping Christ?
