Circusdog320: Me smells bullshiat

From CNSNews?

Color me stunned.

Sounds like bullocks but really, every American should be involved in the debate. It's time.

2013-01-08 07:24:56 AM
Seems to me that Bank of America has a right to conduct business with whomever they choose.

/oh, dear god did I just defend BoA?

As I said in a previous thread that went red, my guess is that their account was frozen because of PCI non-compliance on their website or something like that, but because they see everything through the lens of people trying to take away their guns, that's what they're crying about.

2013-01-08 07:32:01 AM
Barking lunatics. The paranoia of these freaks is truly alarming.

So they are reviewing online credit card transactions for fraud before paying the merchant?  That's what it sounds like, although it's always possible with CNS that it isn't even loosely based on reality.

2013-01-08 09:09:00 AM
So at first the deposits were being held for review (after you admit that your deposits have gotten so much larger), but then it's because they don't like the business you're in? Sure.

On the other hand, the government is just protection for the banking industry and it would make sense they would try to stifle any activity that could threaten the banks' power over this country's citizens.

2013-01-08 10:06:46 AM
So you're saying there should be some kind of law that prevents banks from discriminating against people who are seeking loans?

No no no, BoA isn't taking any kind of stand against anybody or anything.  They just do that every once in a while.  This is just BoA being BoA.  If you bank with BoA, you have to expect this kind of thing every so often: frozen accounts, missing money, stalled transactions, foreclosures over loans you don't even have, liens against your rightfully-owned property without your consent, occasionally being punched in the nuts by a BoA executive...

2013-01-08 10:44:00 AM
This seems legit. I can totally imagine some call bank wage slave saying that, and it actually be something someone in power at BoA told her to say. Totally plausible.

Why? Before the bodies cool and everyone who doesn't like guns but doesn't really do much about it normally loses interest?

My thought exactly. I didn't know it at the time, but the day BOA bought our mortgage was one of the worst days of my life.

The first notice I got that they had purchased my mortgage was a letter threatening legal action if I didn't provide proof of insurance. The deadline in the letter was before postmark date on the envelope. I then got the notice that they had bought my mortgage the next day. So of course when I called BOA to confirm that my agent sent in the required proof, they told me that my account number wasn't in the system yet so they couldn't update my account with the proof of insurance. It was a nightmare to straighten out.

And that was just the start. They screwed me over a couple more times after that.

Ask a Cherokee if the government won't overstep it's bounds. Ask any Japanese guy who was living in the US in 1942 if the government won't round people up on a whim.

Our government has a lousy track record. This time they're going for the guns. That's always been one of the first things done before a government goes full fascist. History is repeating itself, again. Those that choose to stick their head in the sand will either be killed or subjugated.

Plus they'll get sand in their nose, and nobody likes that. Especially while being subjugated.

Why? BoA did pretty much the same thing to McMillan Group International. If they don't like gun manufacturer's buisness that is thier call. However, pretty much a bad move to freeze an exisitng account without any reason.

You should see some of the people at the gun show I was at last weekend. Wow. Somebody mentioned issuing a "gun license" that would qualify you to own a gun. No registration, no bans, no tracking, just a little card that says you're mentally stable and know where to point the barrel at sorta thing.

And you think freezing accounts with no warning; preventing you from accessing YOUR money is the best way for a bank to do this? Not a letter telling you that your account will be closed, not a phone call from your BOA business account manager, but rather giving no notice while keeping the account open but denying access to your money.

Yeah, that's a good bank policy to defend.

Yea, cause I want a place that's sole purpose is to process money to be involved in a debate on politics and social issues, just like I love food establishments weighing in on how healthcare or gay marriage or abortions or religion should be handled...

BANKS - farking process my deposits, take your fees, handle your loans, stfu if its not your companies business outside of handling money...

RESTAURANTS - farking give me a sandwich, take my money, here's a tip, stfu about anything not related to food, it's not you're farking business!

Yeah, that's a good bank policy to defend.

It's the policy at most banks.  Our assets were frozen for over a month by Wells Fargo because we had the audacity to close a credit card account.  Just one credit card we weren't using anymore.  BAM - all of our money, gone in a flash.

Based on the info given in the article, one guy responded that what BOA did was a good thing. I think that, based on the info given in the article, what they did was not a good thing.

The possible existence of unknown, hypothetical information not contained in the article, which may or may not confirm or refute the original article, is irrelevant to comments based on the original article.
