Is it the Fork of Horripilation?

Ha!  See?  You can totally blame the fork for your weight problem.

From the comments: no one wants the government food nazis in their bedroom, so why is it OK for them to be at our dining table?

Sorry.  Why the hell are there government food nazis in your bedroom!?  On second though, I'd rather not know.

Presumably they are just following orders.

Resolutionistas are out in force at the gym. I overheard two talking while walking on the treadmill about how they couldn't wait to have dessert tonight since they worked out. I should have learned by now and just put my gym membership on hold for January until they all gave up.

This.

I watched someone doing reps at 15 pounds last night.

Also, the entire idea behind the linked product confuses me. How can people think that speed of eating makes people fat? Adjust your diet so your hunger reflex works properly and weight falls off. Don't do that and you'll put yourself through misery and then fail to lose weight.

Problem?

If somebody hasn't even lifted in a while, it's probably a good idea to ease back in by using minimal weight to work up correct form before working on strength.

If they're still at 15lb next week, something's wrong then.

I heard Bighead already found it again and he always refuses to share.

Maybe they should use Ysgramor's Soup Spoon instead.

That can be a legit weight for some people based on current strength and/or physical limitations or injuries.  Now if it's an able-bodied man or a woman who's afraid she's going to look like Ahnold if she uses too much weight, then yes, let the ridicule commence.

Able bodied, mid 20s and doing multiple sets.

I am still considering licensing a franchise of gyms called Resolutions. 1/2 price if you sign up before January, then on March 15th it converts over to a bar for the rest of the year.

I am not sure if opening a bar two days before St. Patrick's day is a good idea or not. The staff might not be in top form yet, but serving green beers, Guinness and Irish car bombs isn't that hard. Since you are in the businesses of easy resolutions, make sure to serve fish and chips on Fridays during Lent season.

Maybe this $99.00 fork will help

Does it put itself down and keep itself out of one's $&%* mouth now & then? Does it not work on cheesecake & mashed potatoes? Perhaps it tells the owner to stop eating fries, put down the burger & enjoy a $&%* salad once in a while.

How can people think that speed of eating makes people fat?

Eating quickly helps people power down more food. Eating slower means the body has a chance to send the 'stop eating - full' message before you've swallowed 6,000 calories. While this isn't the main reason most people are fat, it may help those who are overweight if this is one of several bad practices.

Losing weight is easy. It's will power that's hard.

lol, no, I have plenty of will power, it is adjusting your metabolism that is hard. I was ~20 lbs underweight till I was 31, no amount of eating put on a single pound. Then my metabolism shifted (due to birth control change) and now I'm 30 lbs overweight and no diet or work-out plan has ever taken weight off me. Only times when my metabolism shifted (such as working outside at 40 below for 3 weeks) did.

Your metabolism doesn't shift for 3 weeks. You were burning more calories than you were taking in, so you lost weight.

People grossly underestimate how much they eat. You really don't need that much food to hit 1800 calories a day.

Considering it takes around 10 - 20 minutes for the stomach to signal the brain that it's full, reminding you to pace yourself is a good thing.

The planet won't end until it gets swallowed by the sun.

First world problems may cause an extinction event for humans, but fark them they caused that problem in the first place.

Have you tried enjoying a salad? Salads are terrible.

Warrener: How can people think that speed of eating makes people fat?

Eating fast leaves you feeling hungrier. Try eating the same meal in 2 minutes versus 5 or 10.

I wish I knew what it is like to have to lose weight. At 5"11 when working out i was a good healthy 185 lbs. Since my body is falling apart now and cannot do physical labor any more I am back down to about 155 - 160. eat crap and as much as I want. And all this at 34 y/o. Seven herniated discs will do that to you...

I'm gonna have to call BS on that.

Assuming you have a healthy metabolism (I won't say anything for pre-diabetics/average Americans) how fast you eat your food has no effect on how many calories it takes to reach satiety.

Calorie count and (to a lesser degree) macro-nutrient breakdown will affect it, but not eating speed. Even if you manage to gorge fast enough to short out your hunger reflex it's just going to take that much longer until you're hungry again.

sersly though, try it.

Wolfing down two slices of pizza makes me want to get another, though I know two is more than enough. Eating at a leisurely pace results in you feeling full.
