Duck knife season? Now that is a hunting season I can get behind.

If you can't kill something while looking directly into it's eyes then you are pathetic sack of water.

If you can, then you are psychotic.

If you won't, then you are a modern society human.

Ducks are easy.  To kill a rabbit, you'd need a

Or maybe a shotgun?  You know, like hunters use now?

What sort of clown would use an assault weapon to hunt ducks?

I've never seen an assault weapon ban (attempted or enacted) that didn't include shotguns.

They don't work anyway. They just pick up their bill and reattach it to their face.

You don't need an assault rifle to kill a duck. But it is damn impressive.

You dont need a 50 cal to kill a prairie dog either. But it is entertaining!

Warning: Prairie Dogs were grievously wounded in the making of this video

neither do most assault weapons bans.

Using assault weapons to kill a duck would be very impractical.

2013-01-07 03:16:40 PM
ah, yes... typical republican logic: no assault weapons = only knives can be used.

besides, i would imagine using a shotgun would be MUCH easier.

That's a point a lot of people are bringing up.  Most people I know who hunt ducks, pheasants or quail aren't running around with a $1300 Bushmaster .223.  They're using a smaller gauge shotgun that they picked up for under $500.

And the AR-15 isn't the best for larger game because the 5.56 round generally can't do the job with a single shot.  Remember that the military switched to the 5.56/.223 from the 7.62/.308 so they could have a round with less recoil and that would be more compatible with automatic and bust-modes in smaller rifles and carbines and would be cheaper.  Some people even suggest it is a better round for war since a heavily injured opponent is better than a dead one since the opposing side will have to spend resources to recover and treat them.

You can pick up a decent .308 bolt-action for under $700.  Cheapies sell for under $500.  If you need a semi-auto to hunt, then you suck.

On the home invader front, I'd rather have a pistol or short-barrel shotgun than a carbine or especially a rifle.  But then, I guess I have a different kind of intruder in mind than some of the paranoid gun hoarders we have in the US.

Makes perfect sense.  Under the '94 AWB if a semi auto shotgun had a capacity of three shells it wasn't an assault weapon.

If you put a pistol grip on it it's an assault weapon.

Like, duh!  It's deadlier now!

2013-01-07 03:23:36 PM
A lot of male ducks rape female ducks, so I expect the Republican response on this to be "You don't need to kill a duck at all".

2013-01-07 03:24:14 PM
I've found SAMs more efficient in that they not only kill, but clean and cook the duck all at once.

Have you seen photos of what a duck penis looks like?  You want to talk about an assault weapon. Puts the barbed cat penis to shame.

Name one then.  I have never seen one that covered hunting shotguns.  The Federal Assault Weapons ban only covered combat shotguns with things like high capacity or removable magazines.

I'm not sure where the idea that the 2nd amendment was put in place to ensure that hunters could hunt with guns started. But I wish people would stop it.

Why does hunting always get brought up in these gun rights debates? Hunting is not mentioned by the 2nd Amendment and has nothing to do with it at all.

i dunno. it just made me want to puke. killing animals for pleasure just seems barbaric and cruel to me. i realize the hog population needs to be controlled, but treating it like a video game seems inhuman.

If you are making cosmetic changes to your weapon, you are just the type of farker who should probably have his guns taken away from them.  I don't care is you have a lever action 22, if you are putting lipstick on it, I want the cops kicking down your door and taking it away from you.

clydedog: Hunting is not mentioned by the 2nd Amendment and has nothing to do with it at all.

But it does talk about militias.  Yet there is no federal law requiring that firearm owners be active, reserve or retired members of any recognized police or defense force.  There isn't even a central repository of firearm owner names for the government to call upon in the event of an invasion.  If anything, firearm hoarders don't even want the government to know of their status.

So if firearms are no longer seen as a tool to be used by an armed militia, then we need to look at them for their more contemporary uses: hunting, sport and personal defense.

Anyone who runs is a hog. Anyone who stands still is a well-disciplined hog.

To make that pic 100% accurate to your video, we just need to photoshop a suppressor on the M60 so that the hogs can't hear the hicks in the helicopter coming.

I support hunters rights.  My dad was a hunter.  I did have a guy in a bar once tell me that he had something similar to a type of orgasm at the moment he took kill shots on deer.  Some people find pleasure in it.  Some people do it for the meat, a sense of tradition and maintaining the skill.

Ergonomic changes do nothing to make them killing machines, ergo the term cosmetic suits this discussion fine.

Oh they are, but these animals need to be eradicated and the owners of the helo can make more money charging people to do it than they can charging the landowners for flyovers. It's going to happen one way or another. It's not being done "for fun".

again - obfuscating bullshiat. The "Erogonomic Changes" you're alluding to are designed with a certain mode of usage in mind. That mode of usage is not hunting prey animals.
