I'd almost say Air Canada customer service, and I don't toss that around lightly.

Air Canada would need some sort of customer service first, beyond the 'fark you, now take your seat.'

Strong showing for us.  I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not.

What is it with Canada? They actually made a documentary on just the awful customer service found in Canada.

I love the one after that saying "//Drunk - Fix later".  I've put almost that exact same thing in code.  It rivals, "//This is a poor way to do this but much faster than the most efficient method.  It shouldn't hurt anything.  Fix after production."

No "it's a streetlight" thread?

That was the thread they used for FARK? Surely, there have been others that were much funnier. Lke this one or this one.

I was going to, but now that you said it you jinxed it. Rule #1 of great threads, don't talk about them being great threads. Least ways not until the end when it's time to badge up.

The observer effect. Whatever you study you also change. Good forums and threads should not be studied as they will serve no benefit to the future of mankind. In essence this means modern journalism serves no purpose.

I closed TFA shortly after opening it, and I'm not opening it again, so now I'm confused. Did one of these wacky comment threads include a discussion of poor documentation (literally comments about comments)?

I was hoping for a hot cocoa sampler box, but either of those would've sufficed.

/or the Twinkies in the ceiling tile thread, but I'm pretty sure the mods took that one down

"Drunk now, fix later" and "tired now, fix later" are some of the most helpful things You can use when writing anything. I know some writers who swear you must fix all problems as soon as you run into them but sometimes the reason I'm having a problem is I need some sleep.

She was in Firefly and the Sarah Conner Chronicles and The Unit. And guest-starred on an episode of The Big Bang Theory. Amongst other things, I'm sure. And I saw her in a few things, and she seems like a fairly wooden actress to me.

I will admit in that original thread that I went a little overboard with the vitriol.

Since my TF ends tomorrow (after 10 uninterrupted years) I think if I ever come back, I'm using the handle "Living Ham."

A few years back there was a David Hasselhoff album / CD thread on Amazon that was eff'ing hilarious
About 4+ years I'm thinking. Think I picked up on it here, don't remember for sure.

Then there was the Anne Rice flame war on Amazon that was pretty good. Where she got into a flame war with some commenter's

But the best one I know of occurred on Usenet
Louis v World
And the world lost from what I saw of it
A guy I knew of from back about mid late 90's from alt.games.elite (I think was the newsgroups name)
I used to play Elite on the C=64 and when I got online I looked for sites dedicated to it
Someone directed me to the newsgroup and I posted to it
Almost immediately Louis posted a scathing reply which prompted other users to reply to him with posts along the lines of *Louis be good!* and a few apologies to me

Anyway he pretty much scared me off, but I would still scan the group from time to time

A couple years later there was this flame war going on that was cross posted to what seemed to be hundreds if not thousands of groups
And Louis was at the center
Responding to every post
Dismantling their logic
Proving them wrong with links

I can't remember the groups or the topics
But none of it had to do with Elite
I remember topics about hand guns, religion, cultures, everything
Unreal
Never did find out how it started and didn't stick around for the end

A few years later he got into real trouble from another flame war with Derek Smart of Battlecruiser 3000AD fame
Here's a Link to some highlights of that

The newsgroup stuff is mostly gone alonf with Usenet
Whats left can be found (I think) in the google archives if you know how to get there and use it

I have to correct myself. That Summer Glau thread was really part 2 of the birth of hover hand. It all began in the Luke Perry thread. As a one two punch, that couple of threads is pound for pound some of the funniest isht ever.
