It's a tree rat. If it's not smart enough to swim itself out of there, let it die. There are too many squirrels anyway.

and if the food supply and habitat become scarce those bastards will eat and chew through anything. there is nothing quite as frustrating as finding out they chewed through the metal air filter cover of your latest project car and dropped a winter's worth of poop and discarded food down the throat of the carb while they used it as their home. their piss, shiate, and food mixture farks anything over time. plastic, cloth, or metal it doesn't matter because it is damage doing kyrptonite.

Oh lay off, guys. It gives them something to do on a slow day and lets them practice a potential water rescue scenario. That is if the rescue were in ankle deep water and the victim were totes adorbes.

FTA: Tragically the animal was in such bad condition that it later had to be put down.

And now you are sad again.

Well, that was a deer that feel through some ice. The squirrel probably Darwined himself by immediately running into traffic.

To merit a three fire engine rescue, it must have been Beatrix Potter's Squirrel Nutkin, namely a celebrity squirrel like the Fark squirrel. Did it personally know the Prince of Wales or something?

We had some ducks get into my uncle's pool once. The pool was partially drained. The mother duck just flew out, then realized she'd screwed up because the babies couldn't get out. We put a board in and they walked out in a very orderly fashion. Felt like a true hero that day.

Reminds me of this.

My fire department rescuing a dog that got stuck on a rock ledge. For the critics, it's good practice for if we have to get a person some day... otherwise, it made a heck of a difference to that family!
