(Science Daily)   Busy hardworking boffins conclude that orange or cream cups are best for hot chocolate, brown, blue and yellow cups for coffee. I guess that leaves red, green and gold for tea, although they should be white on the inside to show off the colour   (sciencedaily.com) divider line 16

They're all white on the inside Sub

"They were the same size but of different colours: white, cream, red and orange with white on the inside."

Bagginses and Bracegirdles frown on these most unhobbitlike shenanigans.

Well, I think we have a potential IgNobel prize candidate here and I have Marc Abrams' email address, so I'm submitting it to the Prize Committee. Lordargent can bite my biscuits.

Snap! Ginger snap!

I just noticed that the cops on stakeout on TV shows always drink from the paper cups with the white on blue Greek design trim.

I have a whole mess of random Fiestaware. Color does not change flavor. Or maybe I'm dead to things that happen on a higher plane of consciousness.

i would have preferred this test of the subjects were blindfolded. i don't really care what other people think about their food after looking at the color of the cup it's served in. that just means most people have bad taste and merely look for familiarity/predictability.

but, if by some magic, cup color affected the real taste of food, that would be fascinating. probably because it would mean magic and make sarah palin president.

Gaia murdering styrofoam cups are all we need. To stop global warming we can burn them and let the soot block the sun's rays.

That's... a little ridiculous. The whole thing is tied to seeing the cup. Of course the effect will go away in you're blindfolded. You know how people hold their noses to make eating some things easier? Same principle. Block off one sense (or influence it some other way) and the whole experience is changed.
