(White House)   I agree that building a deathstar is an admiral goal (see what i did there?), but I'd rather there be enough doctors to go around. Over 20% go to "visiting" doctors, leaving foreign trained US citizens in the lurch   (petitions.whitehouse.gov) divider line 4

We have enough doctors who shouldn't have gotten into med school. Now you want us to take people who couldn't get into med school?

Hey Subby,
Go fark yourself. I'm part of a project to help Vietnamese students come over here, get through dental school, practice here under a mentor for a time to gain experience, and then return to Vietnam as oral surgeons. So that they can help with things like this.

Why don't you write a petition asking for an overhaul of K-12 so more Americans are eligible to get into medical school?

/also while there is a projected shortfall of ~16k primary care physicians, one should note that the shortage is centered around states with problematic malpractice laws, whereas other areas have a surplus due being seen as doctor friendly
//as in my wife is an oral surgeon and has stated she'd go overseas before going to some states due to what her insurance rates would be, so educating them is not a solution in that the extra ones you educate might just bail elsewhere given the demand for American educated doctors in overseas expat communities.
