FishyFred: If you don't like Always Sunny, I question your taste in comedy, but if you're not just trollin', then yeah, maybe you won't like it.

I'm about 7 or 8 episodes into Sunny on Netflix, and a serious question: Does it improve dramatically as it goes?

Because it's funny at times, but it just seems to me that they sat down and made a list of offensive things they could make an episode about, and just started marking them off.

This is one of the reasons i liked bevis and butthead. I went to high school with guys just like that.

I don't keep up with it -- same with Always Sunny -- but I find them both hilarious when I happen to catch an episode. I actually find that happens to me with a lot of cult comedy shows. I would probably like Archer and Portlandia if I bothered to actually watch them.

/I have a good excuse
//I watch TV for a living
///don't want to watch more when I get home

Always Sunny is only funny if you catch an episode every now and then. Watching back to back or even day to day is just too grating, feel the same way about Curb, Family Guy, et.al.

some_beer_drinker: wtf is venture bros?

An adult animated comedy in the style of 60s-pulp adventure shows- think "Johnny Quest" or "Tom Swift", but placed in the modern age. It's satire, it's a farce, it's in my short list of finest animated TV shows ever. The fanbase is RABID.

jayhawk88: I'm about 7 or 8 episodes into Sunny on Netflix, and a serious question: Does it improve dramatically as it goes?

When people "start" Sunny, I generally advise them to skip season 1. You don't miss much.

After that? Dear god man.

"Gas Crisis", "Goes Invincible", "Chardee MacDennis" are some of my faves.

appclayton: Workaholics is the kind of show that I am careful to recommend. It's not a mass appeal/network type show. But, the ones who like it, will love it.

Workaholics is good the way a Boxer dog is cute... it doesn't seem to be so but then you can't stop staring at it and loving it. The Business Trip on Acid one killed me, to Catch a Predator killed me, Checkpoint Gnarly killed me but all of them are so messed up. Adam's character is the Achilles Heel of the show, IMHO.

Onkel Buck: I think Alice is sexy

Yeah but she lives in a widow's den.

Watch this instead. Also, grab some episodes of Frisky Dingo when you get the chance. Same crew; basically the Adult Swim show that made them famous.

Dont forget Sealab if you're going to pimp the old Adam Reed Adult Swim series (at least up until Captain Murphy left/died).

some_beer_drinker: blue_2501: wtf is venture bros? this thread is really healpful. sunny is great...already watched a few episodes...it's great!

Venture Bros. is pure, undistilled awesome, and I would recommend it highly, especially if you like comic books and obscure references (case in point - one of the early villains is based on Klaus Nomi from David Bowie's Berlin years). It's another one where it's best to start at the beginning though, and then when you're finished you should be ready for Season 5 to start up this year. The big problem with Venture Bros. is that it takes them 2-3 years to make a season.

I don't like It's Always Sunny, but I farking love Workaholics. Watch the first episode, you'll either love it or not.

I will say that Workaholics does have a lot of references unique to the 25-35 year old age group.

They unofficially have a "no Star Wars jokes" rule. I'm a mid-30s guy who loves Star Wars, but even I'm kind of sick of all the references to my childhood now. We're gonna get it back in a decade when all sitcom jokes are obscure Pokemon referecenes.

I find Workaholics to be one of the biggest "hit-or-miss" shows on TV right now. Certain scenes in certain episodes have me cracking up but the rest of it seems like uninspired frat humor and cliches.

I think he has some of the best moments, though I can see him becoming a caricature eventually, though.

and I love there reasoning for that rule too: it feels too much like an older Star Wars fan trying to force it onto younger viewers. I like Star Wars, but I've been sick of hearing about it for years.

though heaven help us on a sitcom filled with farking Pokemon references. The adults who played Pokemon back when it came out were creepy. Even though most of the adults now making Pokemon references were kids when it came out, it still gives me the creepy vibe.

I was skeptical of this show and was thinking I did not like it so much through the first 3 episodes. Then from episode 4 onward it has been equal parts hilarious and awesome. They hit their stride on ep 4 and just locked in, show has been a truly pleasant surprise.

They had a farking D.A.R.Y.L. reference. The only way that comes up is if they are sitting in a room having a round table about all the mid to late 80s shiat they can squeeze in. Its ridiculous, but I kinda love 'em for it.

Not as obscure as a DARYL reference, but I liked them comparing each other to the Ninja Turtles the best (though the video cuts out the best part!)

If you manage to watch Business Trip on Acid without smiling at least once, you are a confirmed robot and must be destroyed. Little bro's before robotic big bro's, man.

I like Adam, actually. He seems like he could be a better person, and then ruins everything for everyone with his massive selfish douchiness. That's fun to watch.

The difference between Alwaya Sunny and Workaholics is that the Always Sunny characters are basically (as admitted by the guy who plays Dennis) absolute worthless pieces of crap who will never get a shot at happiness because of the way they treat others and themselves. They are everything wrong and immoral turned up to 11 but dont realize that they are their own worst enemies or just forget anything they learn in a microsecond.

The three main guys on Workaholics are slackers who havent done much but they are perfectly happy with what they are and all love each other like brothers. If you watch both shows with that in mind, it helps a lot.

The business trip on acid was hilarious. Very "on" if you ask me. Some of it falls short, but I rarely feel like I wasted my time on it, even if I didn't like an episode like the Bodybuilding Competition.

My favourite episode is still the series premiere (they had to provide clean urine for a work drug test). I lost it when Adam drenched Anders in his own urine, I lost it when Adam tired cupping what remained of the little boy's piss in his hands, and I lost it during Blake pissing in all the cups. Most memorable episode by far.

They also do a lot of stabbing in the back, and getting pissed when nobody follows their idea, but they seem less original. Still love them though.

That went from funny, to ohmygod funny, then whatthehelliswrongwiththem funny, and beyond. Chiming in with other, and myself again, that Business Trip on Acid is probably one of the funniest episodes of anything. The juggalo episode is close, and I love the one where Carl tries to marry an asian slut and they end up teargassing the guests instead.
