Yes but will there be slow motion dives while firing twin handguns?

2013-01-06 01:37:13 PM
All of his American movies have been dildos. He never should've left Hong Kong.

Face/Off is incredibly stupid fun.

He should expand. Maybe some slow motion weasels.

He'd be perfect for an Expendables film.

Well shiat, I'm open to direct it too.

/call me

Oh, brorrrrrther. The last time I found his super-slo-mo shtick sorta amusing was in the classic Travolta hamfest, Broken Arrow.

2013-01-06 03:16:25 PM
Now how is he going to get Chow Yun-fat on board?

that would be awesome.
/love those cheesy h.k. flicks from the 80's

I almost blamed Woo for ruining "Hulk", but then I saw it was Ang Lee who ruined a simple premise: puny man gets mad, turns into a monster then wrecks shiat.

2013-01-06 03:33:19 PM
These would be better with Zombie Charles Bronson.

That WOULD be awesome. And I actually LIKED the first two movies.

I'm not sure we want to see Sly and Arnold in slow motion at this point. They already looked like animatronics in Expendables 2.

2013-01-06 03:49:18 PM
I've only seen one of his movies: Face/Off. And that was enough to avoid the rest of his work until the end of the universe. It's down there with Batman & Robin in terms of so-bad-you-can't-even-laugh-at-it-ness.

2013-01-06 04:22:52 PM
WOO!

2013-01-06 04:30:23 PM
yes please.

2013-01-06 04:32:31 PM
Face/Off was great. Broken Arrow was alright(I'll never buy the DVD, but if it's on TV I probably won't change the channel). MI2 was meh. Windtalkers was shiatty. Paycheck.. well, it's named for what it is(granted part of the problem was Affleck mailing it in for his).

2013-01-06 04:40:06 PM
What? No love for Hard Target?

2013-01-06 04:43:51 PM
@Subby: You say that now, but in going with the theme of Expendables 1/2 I'd be honestly shocked if there wasn't a slo-mo scene like that at some point.

2013-01-06 04:45:54 PM
The first expendables was bad(even considering what it was.) The second one was an improvement and roughly on par with what I expect for such movies. I would say it was equal to Commando (granted I haven't seen that in a while so I may be remembering it with rose tinted lenses.)

Duh... John Woo Chow Yun Fat in Expendables? Oh HELL YES. This is series is the truest tribute to 80's action flicks there will ever be.

The biggest problem with The Expendables movies has been the atrocious writing. Concentrate on that, then hire a director.

I'm not sure how your grading scale works. Expendables 1 and 2 were great films, without pretention of being anything but amazingly, deliberately, stupid ways to chain together a bunch of set pieces and make terrible jokes, while allowing the cast of 'most famous action stars in the world' to work together on a fun film.

Yeah, they had to beat us to death with all the catch phrases. Ok Arnold, you're farking back, we get it. We're in on the joke. Decent action movie though.

Oh, right, I forgot John Woo came to America and made movies other people heard of, so now, it's mandatory to hate on him.

Hard Target and Face/Off weren't in the same league as The Killer, but they were still enjoyable action movies. Plus, John Woo was able to get a halfway decent performance from Jean Claude Van Damme, which is no small feat.

Came for this. Hard Target was friggin' awesome.

Broken Arrow and Face/Off weren't bad but Hard Target was awesome

my feelings!

Face/Off was a great action film, IMO. Travolta and Cage just chewing the scenery. And the daughter was a cutie. You have to buy the ridiculous premise of course.

They really should have done this from the get go. Not John Woo, necessarily, but have a different "legendary" action director helm each sequel. You already have all the great action movie actors in one movie, might as well go all-out with the concept!

The first one had Eric Roberts as a villain. That makes it worth seeing for me.

Hard Boiled and The Killer should be in everyone's movie collection. It makes me wonder why Woo's American movies are so bad.

Too bad Tony Scott went bridge diving. He'd have been right at home with this franchise.
Guess they could get Richard Donner. He hasn't done much lately.

Oh god... My brain just built an Expendables/Machete crossover film.

And then exploded from awesome.

maybe the hollywood studios he was working for dicked up his work?

I like the idea of having the old action directors come back to film the sequels
Would have enjoyed seeing Van Damme vs Li

Well, I'd rather have McTiernan and Harlan before Woo. I don't know if Sly will survive that long with all the roids and HGH, though

Did you post this in the 80's or something?

Woo is a legend but isn't Johnny To' the goto guy for gunplay Asian stylee? I ask because I've been out the loop a while.

Check - Exiled, The Mission, PTU, A Hero Never Dies and of course, Fulltime Killer. Not so much happy shooty, but Election and Mad Detectective are also worth checking.

Anyway, I enjoyed the first Expendables movie, it did what it was suposed to.
