With ponder and webb he may have to.

Not with our front line blocking for him.

In other words, he'll get hurt in preseason.

I'd much rather have him run for 1500 and Ponder throw for over 4,000. We need to balance out the attack.

I like his confidence. He's like the Ron Burgundy of running backs.

First thing he needs to do is to ask management to get a decent backup QB. Webb was horrible last night. I didn't think any other QB could look as bad as Sanchez until Webb played.

Remember when Chris Johnson said this after his 2,000 yard season? How'd that work out for him, again?

He may be out of the league in 3 years. You only get so many miles out of a runner before they break down, and his time is almost up.

AP is a far smarter player than CJ, and I say that even as an East Carolina alum.

Nothing made us laugh harder than Pirate Radio's Friday afternoon "Hot Girl Reads Chris Johnson's Tweets."

Lost Thought 00: He may be out of the league in 3 years. You only get so many miles out of a runner before they break down, and his time is almost up.

You know what's fascinating is that AD right now is that he's 4th among active players in carries with 1754, trailing SJax (2395), McGahee (1957) and Gore (1911). The rest of the Top 10 is Turner, Benson, MJD, CJ, Lynch, and Forte. Peterson, CJ, Lynch and Forte are the only ones on that list that are 26 or younger, and Peterson is close to 200 carries ahead of the closest (MJD).

On the other hand, there really hasn't been a better back since he's been in the league. 1341, 1760, 1383, 1298, 970, and now 2097 have been his season totals. And the 970 was in 12 games last year before getting hurt; he surely would have gotten around 1300 or more had he stayed healthy. None of his peers come close: SJax and Gore are consistent but top out at like 1100 most years. MJD is close but wasn't as productive his first three years. Forte has been hanging around 1000 after his ~1200 rookie year. Turner had a nice 1700-870 (injury)-1300-1300 run but appears to be on the slide now. Lynch, Benson, and McGahee were too inconsistent. Rice, Foster, and Charles might be there after a couple more years, but who knows.

Not really sure where he'll go. You could talk me into the "fall off a cliff" argument, but on the other hand, he might just be the greatest back in a generation too.

I really doubt he'd "fall off a cliff" without injury, but unless the Vikings make big moves specifically geared towards opening up the field for AP, I just don't see how it's possible to maintain or even improve on that level of production. "Everybody knows" the Vikes will hand it to AP 25-30 times a game, so they can focus on shutting that down instead of having to worry (snicker) about Ponder and the downfield threat.

This comment on TFA sums up how I feel:

ADP now joins six other backs that have cracked the 2K mark. Out of the previous six that did it, none of them came within 500 yards of matching that mark the next year. The closest was Barry Sanders within 563 yards in 1998, and then he retired. Even when Earl Campbell hit 1934 in 1980, he rushed for 1376 in 1981, a difference of 558 yards. Priest Holmes is the last rushing leader to improve on his rushing total the next season, from 1555 in 2001 to 1615 in 2002, and he was beat out by Ricky Williams for the rushing title with 1853 yards that year. I'm not saying ADP isn't a freak, being able to recover from a knee injury of that type, but history hasn't been kind to running backs trying to match their record seasons the next year.

FTFY. Their backup is okay, but the fact he started all season doesn't really bode well for them.

ESPN: Deep on offense and scary-good on defense, the Green Bay Packers were way too much for the Minnesota Vikings.Maybe everyone else in the NFC, too.

Other than the usual 'OMFG PACKERS!!!', why is the media treating Green Bay's 14pt victory over the crippled Vikings like they won 6 Super Bowls at once yesterday?

Because Vikings fans were way too cocky after the win last week. It's about time they got shut up and laid by their dish.

Good thing they won the game in that case.

Unlike the Vikings.

And don't pretend many, many Vikings fans didn't want to bench Ponder and play Webb all year. Those fans got what they wished for.

Here are some thread headlines from a Viking fan board

"The best QB on the roster is finally starting tonight!"
"Joe Webb is one of the best players on this team"
"PUSS* = Ponder"
"If Ponder would have played, Packers put up 40+ easily"

And that's just page one.

There's a definite reality disconnect with the vocal Vikings blowhards. At least when you deal with an obnoxious Bears fan, there's years of history and legacy that they can back it up with. Minnesota doesn't even have a team, they'd go to complete pot if Peterson got hurt. Jared Allen and Chris Kluwe are well liked by this farker - I'll get that out of the way - but as far as I can remember when the Vikings do well it was pretty much due to one player.

The Packers have a team; and though there's a lot of name players for sure, it's a team effort. Rodgers is amazing, but it also helps when he has guys like Jordy, Jennings, Jones, Cobb, Finley, Driver to catch those passes. It isn't all "1st and 10, hand off to Peterson; 2nd and 2, hand off to Peterson; 3rd and 7, screen pass to Peterson; wooo first down; 1st and 10, hand off to Peterson..."

If the Pack gets knocked out by the 49ers next week, it will at least go to an actual team, instead of some regional rivals whose only basis of the rivalry is that they think they absorbed greatness off of Chicago and Green Bay through field run-off.

Then defense, receivers, out coached, Packers running game (yes I said that) many more reasons

Their coach is an idiot. He was 9 yds short of the record with 50 less carries that Payton. During the playoff game he sat on 99 yards forever and they never gave him the ball again in the losing effort.

Does the coach care about AP at all? I was yelling at the screen both games and I'm not a vikings fan.

Making the playoffs is more important than setting a rushing record. And he didn't see much action late in the game yesterday because 1) they weren't going to win, and 2) To even have a chance, they needed to start chucking the ball downfield. Webb was drafted to be a WR and that's what they should do with him. He's too talented to be off the field, and not good enough to be viable as a QB. Kind of like Tebow, only black, and not a douchebag.

2013-01-06 04:30:26 PM
AP is confident, but is saying a lot of stupid shiat. He won't rush for 2500 yards and he won't beat Usain Bolt in 200 m dash (unless Usain gets injured).

And the amount of carries the guy got this season (and how many impacts he took), he is going to be lucky to play another 3 years.

putting joe webb in earlier during the beginning of season when ponder was just terrible would have helped. not oh it's suddenly the playoff and now our qb is injured and we have a guy who hasn't played all year..... I am guessing some of those thread headlines are from out of state viking fans or ones that just jump on them when play a good stretch.. honestly saying joe webb is the best player on this team? those people are idiots. and either don't know the team or are trolling. went to check out a viking forum and saw some questionable headline threads but nothing to the degree of those...

He was a hair under 3,000. Give me 3600. That's roughly 220 a game. Heep that TD to INT good too.
