Nuthin' against Chip Kelly, but stealing from Cleveland is kinda like looting a garbage dump.

Does he already have that Brown stink all over him?

Didn't Baltimore end up with a Super Bowl win from stealing from Cleveland?

And it's poisonous!

Its venomous claws have a powerful paralytic neurotoxin that will NOT kill you. Instead, you'll be in excruciating pain for days or even weeks on end, wishing it HAD killed you.

He met for seven hours with the Browns and nine hours with the Eagles. What could you possibly talk about for that length of time?

There must be some serious NCAA violations at Oregon that we don't know of yet.

Don't understand why these two teams are falling all over themselves for Kelly. I like the Ducks, and his offense is a lot of fun. But I'd go with McCoy from Denver -- who's actually proven himself in the League, and shown he can adapt to his personnel -- long before Kelly.

As an Eagles Fan I'm going to have to say No to Chip Kelly. For two reasons:
1) The Philadelphia Media wants him.
2) The Philadelphia Fans want him.

Remember Jeffrey Lurie, if you did what the fans and media wanted, you would have drafted Ricky Williams and not McNabb.

OTOH, he could easily wash his hands on this if it fails and say "See what happens when I listen to you?"

Probably with a hefty raise. A few extra million dollars for two days of interviewing is time well spent.

If he doesn't go to Philly, then I don't see how he ever gets an NFL job considering what he did to Tampa this year, now Cleveland, and possibly (and probably) to Philly.

I don't understand why any NFL team or fan base would want him. Unless he tells them that he only runs that offense because of the tactical advantage it gives his team over other college teams and would run a completely different offense in the NFL, he will be useless at the next level. First, there is far too much speed in the NFL to run a system based on being faster than your opponents. Second, he can't run his gimmick system at a championship level in college so it's not as if the results will improve at a higher level of competition. I saw someone on Fark call him Spurrier 2.0 and that couldn't be more accurate.

Looks like Cleveland said no. They dodged a bullet, IMO. I'm guessing they go hard for Ariens, Saban, Cohwer, and Gruden.

Do Cowher and Gruden even want to come back to coaching? Is Saban the least bit interested in leaving Alabama? Every time I see those three names tossed around (especially Cowher and Gruden), I immediately become skeptical.

Chip Kelly was up for the UGA job?

That_Dude: Do Cowher and Gruden even want to come back to coaching?

Cowher, I would have to say no unless there is a sudden need in Pittsburgh (i.e. Mike Tomlin has to suddenly take time off for personal or health reasons), Gruden is unpredictable, and acts like he wants to go back sometimes.

I have this feeling he's going to pull a Pete Carroll, and soon. Oregon is still waiting to see what the NCAA is going to do, and the fact that it's taken this long to investigate possibly points to a bad outcome for the Ducks. There's also the fact that Kelly is hot right now, and may never be this desirable again. Especially after two years of "Maybe I will" and then plucking more money from UO. No NFL team will want to waste time if he keeps playing with them just to leave them high and dry. There's also the fact that Kelly is a supreme egotist. I live just over the border from Oregon and have the "pleasure" of watching his news conferences. He's Bill Belichick but without the cuddly side.

I am not saying Kelly's a bad coach at all. I'm a University of Washington alum who has grown quite tired of watching my Huskies get ran out of the stadium by his Ducks teams. But he comes across as a complete dick who thinks he's a genius. There are more than a few stories of Oregon boosters rapidly coming to dislike Kelly, which says something. The Ducks have been in the championship hunt the last three years, but Ducks boosters hate him..? I do believe that Kelly would be an epic fail as an NFL coach if he tries to run UO's offense in the pros.

That's the price you pay for not being in the SEC...

I've never heard a single Ducks fan I know complain about him. That includes a lot of season ticket holders and donors, so I have to wonder how legitimate those claims are.

Oh, he'll win now that there will be a playoff. Doesn't need to get to the SEC to get their autobid anymore.

If Chip realized that kicking was part of the game, he'd have a chance to beat ND this year. I'm a Ducks fan, but I'm not sure Kelly can win a NCG without some luck, until he starts playing the whole game.

stewbert: If Chip realized that kicking was part of the game, he'd have a chance to beat ND this year.

Well, same could've been said about Alabama a couple years ago...except they still get in when they lose. But yeah, a kicker would be nice. Problem is that the bigger schools don't want to "waste" a scholarship on a kicker so the best ones go to crappier programs for the most part. There's a HS kid in the Spokane area that made a 68-yarder this year, maybe make him an offer he can't refuse. Why go to Pullman if you don't have to? (Assuming he's going there)

Wouldn't expect any less crying from a butt-hurt Husky. The only people in Oregon who don't like him are Beaver fans.
