Seriously. Did they learn nothing from our Secret Service scandal?

2013-01-06 12:03:37 AM
"The US Secret Service was embroiled in a similar scandal involving prostitutes and its agents last April in the Colombian city of Cartagena, where President Barack Obama attended the Summit of the Americas.
More than two dozen Secret Service agents and military personnel, tasked with preparing security for Obama's high-profile visit, were sent home. Nine have since left the agency as it seeks to repair its tarnished reputation."

Why the fark did they bring this up? Are they paid by the word?

Tegucigalpa really is one of the tackier neighborhoods, if you know Latin America.

That's why I stay in Buenos Aires, Las Condes, Chile, or Valdivia, Chile. You'll see me there. I'll be the one in lots of sunscreen and under a big-ass umbrella.

/Seriously, though... Las Condes is where money is. I live in Arizona. Scottsdale has some serious money, but they don't have a dedicated Bentley dealership like in Las Condes. These families have seen revolutions and coups d'etats. They still have their money. That's invincible money. They look at the Rothschilds, DuPonts, and Rockefellers as "New Money." They've been in South America for almost 500 years. You don't fark with them, especialy La Familia Ahumada, or Los Hiriart. (That's Pinochet's widow's family.) These are people who consider Beverly Hills a slum. That's crazy cash.
//So why did I go off on this tangent? Tegucigalpa has a police force that knows where their Ho's are. They help run them and they get a cut. Honduras has like 4 powerful families and a million servants. And if I remember my history, even the Mayans said, "Let's get the hell out of here and head north."

"Honduras" means "waves" in Spanish, BTW. The Mayans got sick of them and left.

In espionage circles, this is known as an 'Brown Russian'. Classic KGB tactic.

That's not invincible money. That's collaborator money. Folks like that don't survive by taking (unpopular) stands, they survive by playing middle man to both sides. It's the other side of Idiocracy. They have excellent manipulation social darwinism skills.

I can barely conceive of how people do this stuff at all. Doing it with co-workers though? That I can't even begin to wrap my head around.

I had a manager for a while who worked in another city and who would come into town a couple times a year. Every time he visited he would take the team out for lunch or dinner, and every time on our way to AND from the meal he would ask about where the strip clubs were and suggest we visit one. Every time one of us would make a vague gesture and say "a few blocks that way" to the question, and we would all 100% ignore the suggestion. He NEVER got it, and just kept suggesting it whenever their was a pause in the conversation. None of us were interested in going to strip clubs to start with, and we sure as HELL didn't want to go with anyone we worked with, especially that freaky loser. (He was eventually fired for inappropriate behavior of a sexual nature btw.)

So why not lay the law down with the dude, say 'we're not interested in strip clubs, and it's unprofessional to go to strip clubs with people you work with', and leave it at that?

Or point out the sexual harassment clause in the handbook?

Or pull a 'the strip clubs out here are lame, you go if you want to' end of discussion feint?

Dude kept bringing it up because your office smelled of PUSSY. Hope y'all have nutted up since then.

1. always pay your hookers. if the sex sucked, pay them and dont call them again
2. These hookers are never going to be found alive. Seriously.

People like that, in a country like that losing their position over some hookers? Yeah theres more going on. Those hookers are dead.

As for going out and doing the hookers with your co-workers....

Dont. Just dont. Do it on your own time. Ive worked at some places where it was done, but I dont recommend it. Do it on your own time, not with coworkers who will later think they have a in with you.

You've obviously never been in sales.

I had one client who loved to go to strip clubs and would often get "extra services."

/I never paid for his philandering

Sorry, what? "Waves" is "olas," "ondas," or "ondulación," depending on context. "Honduras" comes from the Spanish word for depth: "honda" in modern Spanish, "hondura" in 16th century Spanish.

My father was the auditor in chief for the Central American division of a major US bank back in the 1970s, in Guatemala. He supervised the other auditors in the division, who were all invariably young men fresh out of college. He always told them that if he ever caught them hiring prostitutes, visiting strip clubs, gambling, or doing anything else shady, he'd have them on the first PanAm flight back to the states, and good luck getting a job in any other bank without a reference. My dad wasn't prudish or religious -- he just had his company's interests at heart, and messing with hookers or gambling was a sure way to tarnish the image and working relationships of the bank in Guatemala (a pretty conservative society back then). He'd also lecture them about women in Central America, pointing out that most of them thought sleeping with a man was tantamount to an offer/acceptance of a marriage proposal, and if any relationships ended badly, the man would have the woman's family after them, and a world of hurt for himself and the company. Needless to say, a few of them always got in trouble and had to be sent back to the states just ahead of a family lynch mob, angry pimp, or loan shark. Used to drive my dad up the wall.

Time to polish up my resume. I could do a FAR better job with managing office orgies overseas. The Columbia embassy needs to be completely overhauled. It's an embarrasment. Obviously the most professional people there were the hookers. I can name a half dozen things that were done wrong just from the article, and we know how much they leave out of such stories initially.

Obama needs to appoint people who can properly represent the type of country that ranks colleges by "Best Party Schools." My school didn't even have fraternities or get mentioned in those rankings but I could do far better than these jokers.
