FTFA: The days of paying for costly software upgrades are numbered.

Wait until the iPhone 9 comes out and you find out it doesn't run ANY of your apps.
Or your insurance company charges you more because your home security system still runs Kernel 3.7.3

Crap! Sorry, I'm an idiot. I would like to change that A from FTFA to advertisement.
Thanks.
It is a Motley Fool ad, which doesn't even make sense to have on the site since they have an article called "Bogus Ads FromThe Motley Fool" on there.
Thanks again for pointing out the error of my ways. (I guess.)

I started counting how many devices have Wi-Fi within line of sight and ended up with twelve.

. . .

That's actually pretty scary... Oh, TiVO. Thirteen. Ok, I'm stopping now.

10 or so between the two of us in active use. If you want to start counting disused laptops, old iPaqs and first-gen iPod Touches, etc that need to be gotten rid of, easily double if not triple that.

23 in a house of 4. And two of those are children who haven't obtained cellphones yet nor started accumulating similar devices of their own (most of this crap is mine, a few are the wifey's).

Its the 21st century equivalent of the late-20th Letts' Law: all programs evolve until they can send email/play mp3s. Think of the least-network-needing item in your house and in 10 years it'll be pingable. I'm thinking... toilet brush. Wait and see.

/i suspect there are already wireless vibrators available on the market
//but scared to look

I just bought a Blu Ray player last night that I haven't had a chance to connect to the network.

But I know we're 15+ here in a household of four, with the two youngest under the age of 3. Since I work from home, I have several computers, then my IP phone, family cell phones, iPad, Tivo, etc.. It adds up fast.

I'd like to say I could operate just find if the internet went out tomorrow, but most of my job is websites and email blasts. The print I do is dependent on my sending files via the web.

Should I miss the days the USPS had a monopoly?

Household of four.

Five computers, five mobile phones, PS3, Wii, Blu-ray player, Smart TV, Tivo, Boxee, WDTV, NAS, Ooma, two tablets, and two iPods. 23 devices, and I'm sure I missed a few.

I'm surprised it took this long...

2 of us, 9 devices. all wireless.
