jermadem: Vicki's not quite as cute (new window) anymore...

Ten years of living with Nick Nolte will do that to a girl.

plushpuppy: Stephen is in Broadwalk Empire

In this past season, and excellent as usual. I was really worried about what he was going to do/with the goldfish when they introduced his character.

/honestly one of the weirdest character introductions I've seen.

Superjew: Rot in hell, Andy Dick. Phil was 10 times the man you never were.

I suspect that much of what makes Andy Dick "Andy Dick" is that he thinks you have too high an opinion of him -- what a horribly sad fellow

Whiteston: NuttierThanEver: Dave looks like hell

I ran into him at a television shoot not too long ago and he was very nice. A real down to earth guy. He just sat in the back, sipped his beer and then when the camera came on he did his part. I don't even think he was hired he just did it as a favor for a friend - spur of the moment.

I chatted with Dave for a couple of minutes after a "Tour of Duty" KITH show in Manhattan while the crowd was distracted by Mark McKinney who'd just come out of the theater.

Very nice guy, we knew a couple of folks in common from the old KITH Usenet group.

Oh man that show has so many gems... very re-watchable too! Thanks divgradcurl for mentioning Bill's Cane - it's one of my favorite TV sitcom/comedy moments of all time! Hell, might even be #2 or 3 for me.

While watching the first few seasons of the American version of The Office, I noticed several tropes that were commonplace all over Newsradio. Sadly, I've never seen it mentioned anywhere that this was an intentional throwback to that show.... So much in common :/, just different spins on established awesomeness.

Oh boy.. Maura Tierney.. the things I would do to to get the chance to do things to her..

She's like an unsleazy Kim Deal.

And the things I would do to Kim Deal.. .

So many great short scenes:

Jimmy James: Well, beam me up, Slappy!

Dave Nelson: Actually, that's Scottie.

Jimmy James: Geek test!

Beth: This is just like that episode of Star Trek when they entered a parallel universe where everything was the same except they were all on heroin.

Dave: There was no such episode.

Jimmy: Geek test two!

Catherine: (reading the news) Tragedy struck today in Sector 9 as rebel terrorists blew up the Death Star killing thousands. The Rebel Alliance, a fringe group of Anti-Empire fanatics, has claimed responsibility for the terrorist act. Fortunately Lord Vader escaped without harm. Our hearts go out to the families of the victims.

TeddyRooseveltsMustache: Stephen Root was on Boardwalk Empire this season. Who the fark wrote this article, and why are they stuck in the year 2000?

No doubt. Stephen Root is AWESOME!

RIP Phil

Post NewsRadio, Dave and KITH partner Kevin McDonald ('Throwdini' from the talent show episode of NewsRadio) were both major supporting characters in the underrated 2006 Super Hero/ John-Hughes-tribute comedy "Sky High".

They were both terrific and make the film worth it just for their performances

And I wouldn't say "his most visible role since the show" was "Office Space" if for no other reason than that most people don't realize it's Root playing that role. And the fact that "Office Space" wasn't "since the show." (The final episode of "NewsRadio" aired 4 months after "Office Space" was released.)

I'd also say that Radio Station Man from "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" is a more "visible role."

Stephen Root is awesome.

True, but almost nobody saw "Office Space" in the theater; it wasn't until Comedy Central later started airing it in constant rotation that it became a cult hit.
