Stupid farking Nickelodeon... they've edited both Ren and Stimpy and Rocko's Modern Life because of TEH CHILDRUN! Won't even put the unedited versions of the episodes we watched as kids out on DVD.

Meh, the eighties had their moments too.  Like making a psychotic serial killer/cannibal head cook of a teen hangout.

People who grew up in the 80s shrug.

You can't do that on television.

I loved getting home from school and watching Double Dare. Watching kids throw shiat at each other and having to catch it on their head or in their pants, getting filthy in the process. No wonder they don't have shows like that anymore, the poor kiddos might get dirty or harmed in some way. That goo might have been handled improperly!!

I saw the Mounted Canadian Yaksmen episode with a head full of acid, just coming up on my trip.  I thought I was going to die laughing when the yak gets heatstroke and goes into a messianic frenzy.

Rocko's Modern Life, Spunky falls in love with a mop, locks himself in a closet with it and after some... sounds, there is now a puddle between Spunky and the mop. So yeah, dog and broom sex with leavings. Not scarred for life, but I will never forget that.

TONS of people were. I remember seeing Juliana Hatfield as the lunch lady and Ellen Cleghorne as a bus driver. There were more, but I can't think of them right now.

If only there were some tool, perhaps computerized, to which I could provide this question and it would list resources where I may be able to find the answer.

While those groups do deserve a healthy dose of outrage, Nickelodeon deserves just as much.

Ren and Stimpy and Rocko aren't kids shows any longer. They haven't been reran on Nick or any "network for kids" in over a decade. No one under the age of 21 would really know they even exist. They're now solely for the 90s kids who have all grown up. Throwing the uncensored, unedited versions on DVD wouldn't hurt anyone (and honestly, what was edited isn't that outrageous to begin with). Yet they won't do it. When Shout released Rocko, they asked for the broadcast versions, and were denied for no good reason.

So Nick deserves to get shiat for being dumbasses.

They are afraid of the backlash. Why is this hard to understand?

B.L.Z. Bub: They are afraid of the backlash. Why is this hard to understand?

I think his point was that there's no backlash left to be had. I don't think anyone worthy of worry for Nickelodeon would begrudge them an unedited release of unedited cartoons (that aired in their entirety) from the 90's. I kinda wonder the same about Beavis and Butthead. I never saw the original banned episodes but to my knowledge they're still unavailable.

Hell Aeon Flux was far more graphic and/or suggestive and I don't think any of them were ever censored at all.

Weren't some B&B episodes banned because of the "pyromania" controversy? If that's the case, that's more than just being scared that a loud activist group will drive away sales. That's fear of good old ambulance chasing lawyers. You scoff, but this is a nation where the buckyball can no longer be sold because some kid might swallow a magnet.

That is beyond creepy.  Especially because the Dummy's voice is a dead ringer for Seth Galifinakis.

And from the YouTube comments, a quick Google search leads to this little gem:

Sad.

Olmec always sounding like (and even looking like) he was dropping a shiat when the seal opened weirded me out back when it was on.

/Ren and Stimpy was all the more skin-crawling because the creators mainly used creepy classical music and horror movie themes to soundtrack those images.

My favorite Rocko piece: "Heck. A Friendly Community".

My favorite Are You "Afraid of the Dark": Gilbert Gottfiried as the Gatekeeper.

If you grew up in the 90s, I feel sorry for you. The 90s were exceptionally shallow and artificial.

2013-01-05 11:30:29 PM
From what I can discern, no one who grew up in the nineties ever became an adult. All they ever do is wax nostalgic about their childhoods and whine whenever anyone or anything connected with their formative years does literally anything. A generation completely wasted on themselves.

that episode of are you afraid of the dark where the ghost came from the wall and had to be trapped in an amulet with the silver but the chick used a spoon and died but her soul was freed later by some guy

Anyone here see any of those newish Ren & Stimpy episodes that were aired on SPIKE TV? That shiat is scarring.

70's was awesome. and in the 60's-ish era it was tabs of acid and watching Captain Kangaroo. glass of milk, sleeve of Chips Ahoy! - and blakc & white TV goodness on Mars.
