Kobe has been in the league for a million years, and he's been in the playoffs for (I think) all of them. If you had a list of average assists-per-game, I would bet Kobe is no where near the top.

/besides, the old "Kobe is a ball hog" joke is still funny.

Stephon Marbury has more assists. Your argument is invalid.

Kobe is only a ball hog in the last minute of games when it is close. He'll pass under normal circumstances. Of course, playing like that costs his team games pretty often, as Kobe's efficiency drops like a stone in the last minute of close games as a result. Kobe is essentially anti-clutch, not because he plays worse under pressure, but because he plays selfish under pressure.

Kobe career average assists per game - 4.7

Michael Jordan career average assists per game - 5.3

Kobe is less than one assist per game lower than Jordan.

If it was just a category of shooting guards, he would be. 4.7 per game is pretty impressive throughout a long career, and I think it's only surpassed by Wade in that position by current SG (though he was the defacto PG for the Heat his first couple of years). Granted, the offense Kobe played in his entire career didn't have point guards who were creators, so a lot of that responsibility were left to Kobe and Jordan (who averaged over 5 a game).

And Kobe also leads the NBA in hotel concierge rapes.

Facts can be used to prove anything that is even remotely true. Kobe is a ball hog damnit, that gets the greenlights.

Let's look at AST% for some of the top SGs of all time.

Michael Jordan: 24.9
Kobe Bryant: 23.3
Jerry West: 27.1(would possibly be lower if AST% data existed before 1964 judging by his career numbers at the time)
Clyde Drexler: 26.1
George Gerwin: 12.2
Allen Iverson: 28.8

You could keep going down the list of SGs and almost all of them will be in the 20s. SGs are supposed to be the ball hogs.

5500 assists in his career, 23,000 shots attempted. It's worse than I thought.

No, he didn't.  He did not tell us how many years younger she is.

And if he had done this over the summer, Jerry Buss might step in and prevent Jimmy Buss from making another huge farking mistake in hiring D'Antoni. Phil's family now. If he was family in early November, he might be the coach, and the Lakers wouldn't be under 0.500.

Ok, so I was really, really wrong. Still, it's fair to be suspicious when sports stats are posted for leaders in gross number rather than percentage----it gives the advantage to the players who have been in the league the longest, and especially long-serving players on perennially-successful teams (which is exactly Kobe). So, I guess he passes more than I would have thought. Good for him.

/still not going to stop laughing at "Kobe is a ball hog" jokes.
