thesharkman: Austin, Texas is number 1. No surprise here. Surprising would be if Detroit was on the list.

If you go to Detroit and stay in the city center, it's actually quite nice. Lots to do, great food, shows, museums... And it's pretty damn safe besides, as the police have apparently decided that this area is their Green Zone they refuse to let fall.

Outside of that five mile radius, yeah, it's post apocalyptic. But in there, you could easily spend a couple days.

Austin is a surprise? The place that holds SXSW yearly? And one of the healthier convention markets in the US? And that's not to be expected?

Hell, that's just the first one and the list is a total failure.

All five of those places sound perfectly mainstream and reasonable. Why wouldn't I expect people to go to those places?
